What with the chest infection I've now got, it's like Holby City on this thread! If it's any consolation, there are several people on other threads all with various degrees of lurgy.....chests, colds, heads, etc , some in bed, like me, others staggering around!

I'm back from the wifi free depths of the frozen north. :D

And unless you lot keep your lurgs to yourself, I'm not stopping! Although in the spirit of Crimbo I may be up for doling out tea and sympathy and soothing the odd fevered brow (from a safe distance, of course.)

Will have proper read when I'm slightly less knackered, but in answer to the counselling query, I'll just stick my 2 pennorth in. I had counselling (kicking and screaming all the way as I don't do all that talking stuff) through the GP a number of years back for a specific issue. (And it had small amounts of what I now understand to be CBT thrown in.)
It helped me to understand why I react the way I do in certain situations so that I can now pre-empt myself before I do it. If that makes sense. It was in conjunction with medication (also kicking and screaming as I prefer to do without it if possible - that's just me, btw, I'm not anti-meds in the wider sense.) and it wasn't a miracle cure but it did help.
Anything deeper such as psychotherapy is a step too far for me, although it was suggested at the time. But counselling I would go to again in similar circumstances.

Hope anyone who's feeling rubbish for whatever reason starts to feel better soon. Code, give dumbass a cuddle for me - I'm Gitdog free till tomorrow, never thought I'd actually miss him.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

Welcome back, elsien! Give Gitdog a huge from me today! I promise I won't breathe on you!

Aww, chest infections are horrid, Pyxis. Hope it clears up quickly.

As for WaSp and I, it's 8c in this bedroom, we have the window open because we are sweating buckets. I pity WaSp because although he got the lergy first he now seems to be two days behind my symptoms. He is still at the burning throat and aching limbs stage, I have moved along to the nose like a running tap and constantly sneezing stage. Unlike WaSp, however (who won't do it!) I am drinking a litre of fruit juice a day, taking vitamins like they are going out of fashion and living off of oranges, hopefully its helping. It's a relief actually, now I have a full blown cold I am starting to feel better.

We have three days to get at least vaguely well for our New Christmas (Yearmass?) celebrations! Failing that everything gets put off again until January 7th for a Russian Christmas.

In much healthier news Milliefleur has been whisked up to Yorkshire for 2 weeks by her family so is very happy indeed. We are also glad because neither of us dare visit her while we have this so now we know that she won't be lonely. In fact she is going to a New Years Eve party which is more than we are!

Someone pass the tissues please...(oh, and while you do that please also tell the voices that I am not dying of lung cancer. It is getting tedious although it makes a change from liver failure).

  • Voices - do give it a rest! NONE of the above are symptoms of lung cancer - you really are scraping the bottom of the barrel, aren't you! :D
Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).
  • Thank you, JM! Even to me it looks like a cold, it just shows that I should never pay attention to the voices because they are always totally wrong.

I cancelled my carer for the week due to the fact I simply wouldn't forgive myself if she passed this along to any of her clients with weak immune systems. It would only have been two days anyway and having my limbs pulled around for physio is the last thing I want to do!

HA ha ha, a fine disregard for germ theory there!

OK, I see your offer, and up you to hugs for all! :D :rotfl:

I'm not too huggy a person. However, teenage son did allow me to kiss him on Sat, for the first time in years. Admittedly, it was only on the top back of his head!

Germ theory - it's Christmas, I have been with family therefore I am in contrary mood.

Okay, hugs to all on this sparkling cold day.

Virtual hugs aren't governed by the Laws of Physics or Biochemistry or Physiology or Bacteriology/Virology, so

    Hug Away!
