Thanks was they sound like they complement each other, they also both sound very scary to me. I think of the two CBT is the one I should try first I don't want to go to the doctor until my tempory job finishes as I know I will get signed off sick and to have that on my work record means I will find it harder to find another job.0

The thing to remember if therapy seems scary is that it is always patient-led. A therapist can only work with the information you give them, they also can't force you to do anything you don't want to. Your therapy will be dependant on how much you choose to share and whether or not you feel things work for you. The therapist is a guide and they can only guide you through what you choose to talk about and try out, it is always you in control.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

Awwww! There are some people here who I have to say a huge thank you to! I opened up a gift and what did I find? A stocking and gifts from some of my friends here! I am so shocked! None of you needed to do that, especially not after my birthday! I love everything, thank you so, so much! I don't have words again, you are all far too good to me! In no particular order:
Counselling doesn't change the past. It can change how you react to the past events though, so that it doesn't cause such a crescendo of physical feelings and thoughts.
I love all the poems. WaS, could you please pm me yours.
The gifts are from everyone really, WaS.

I don't want to sit and talk about the past it is the past talking about it is not going to change it, I am not an open discussing feelings person and if I feel it's not going to work then I very much doubt it will. I have heard of CBT and think that is more what I need but is it freely available on the NHS how would I go about getting it? Has anyone had both and what you say helped you more.
Nobody has to reply I will totally understand if nobody does only post if you feel able to.
OK, this is what I would recommend. I've had counselling in the past, but not CBT, but I know this stuff because I run a mental health charity.
1. CBT would be available a lot faster than counselling, although there is still likely to be a waiting list. Ask for a referral to your local IAPT service (Increased Access to Psychological Therapies, pronounced 'eye-apt'). This is the NHS freely available service (which might be run by a subcontractor such as Mind). You will normally be offered 6-10 sessions.
2. CBT is also available online in some areas (and online everywhere if you pay for it. I have no idea about the quality though). And there may be online services, or other services, available through IAPT. This will vary according to your local provider. If you Google [local area] IAPT, you may get some indication of what is on offer (all IAPT services will include CBT).
3. If you did decide to go for counselling, what is available locally will vary a lot, and is unlikely to be free. The charity I work for offers both long and short term counselling, but people are expected to make a contribution (the minimum is supposed to be £10 a session but people on benefits are often allowed to pay only £5) - and this level of subsidy is very rare nowadays.

So glad you like the presents, WaS. You can blame Pyxis, as it was her idea! (We really expected people to send cards, but people are soooo generous!)
And I'd forgotten, when I got cupcake stuff, that you were going to become an expert cupcake-maker under the tutelage of Mrs Claus!!!!:D:D I hope we'll see some pictures of cupcakes in due course
By the way, WaS had PM'd me so I can confirm that they did arrive in time for (real) ChristmasI have one card and parcel still to come, and need to chase one final parcel which I think was posted but never arrived this end (I'm hoping perhaps it wasn't posted!)
