Pyxis, your continuation poem is brilliant! You really ought to get that published. However, I'd really like to do a balancing poem with a bit of hope in it. Watch this space! One may appear.....

Hmmm, it's a bit moral, but it's about loving yourself and helping others...And it celebrates the friendships (which include the lurkers - best wishes to you, if you are a lurker!

Post Pyxix penguin poem (corrections and improvements welcomed)

We cannot bring our family joy
Or love them well, until we learn
To love ourselves. But we destroy
    Self-value as emotions churn.

Let random acts of kindness band
To build our sense of good self-worth.
Do as you would be done by and
We can all have a happier earth.

So there IS hope. And we have friends
To nurture us in heart and mind
And as this short reflection ends,
One single lesson – just be kind.

End of pppp, and a Happy New Year to all. :)

    Pxyis Larkin, that is great!
:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.

Something really weird happened earlier on.
I'd gone to empty the washing-machine and took my laundry basket to the machine. I glanced inside the basket and saw what I thought was a leaf on the inside of it.
Then I realised it was a butterfly with closed wings!
It was alive and was a red admiral!
I didn't dare put it outside as the temperature's plummeting, so I put it on a plant in my porch and mixed a drop of honey with a drop of water and left that in the porch.

About ten days ago I found a red admiral in my bedroom! It wasn't so cold then, so I put that one outside.

I have sometimes seen butterflies around in December, but never inside the house! Moths, yes, but not butterflies! And why inside the laundry basket?

    Weird or what!

I hope nobody minds me sharing this, but its my only published (i have the book) poem, on a similar theme

Sometimes life moves so fast that it is hard to keep up,
And sometimes we hurt the ones that we love.

We say things we don't mean,
Words that cause hurt and suffering.
then we try to take it back,
To stop the pain, and get "us" back on track.

hoping out loved ones will forget and forgive
Ignore the foolish words we've said but yet,
They don't and they still hurt, but they still love
And that's what keeps us strong, when times get rough.

    FORGET, FORGIVE.
    LOVE, LIVE.

(i have a load more poems if anyone is bored and wants to read them :o )
