There's a different way to look at coping with the stress. To cope with anything at all, we need the energy to do it. When we have the energy, we can usually succeed in doing anything. When we have the energy, we are stronger all round. Eating something small gives us some energy. Eating something of good quality gives us power. It strengthens the body and strengthens the mind too. Concentrate on the good quality energy. That's where your control can lie, in rejecting the empty calories and choosing the high-quality ones.
In doing so, you'll energise yourself! And in energising yourself, you can kick that stress into touch, ignore the bullsh*t and be strong!
Go for it Mellymoo!
So, WaS, the big reprise is next Wednesday eve?
That's nice, as we can all have a second Christmas through you, too! :T(I just lurve spiders!)

Make each tiny meal a celebration, mellymoo. How about some cheese cubes and grapes on cocktail sticks. I love them.
It could also be worth getting some (somewhat pricey) Ella's kitchen baby food fruit pouches. They taste great and you can have a bit and recap the pouch. They would also be good if you are travelling. Squeeze it out straight onto a spoon. nb I used the for littlewing as a baby. Good idea to celebrate the New Year, WaS. I'm up for doing it all again!
I guess WaSp is just having the effects of all his hard caring work with Millefleur. Hope you feel better and can make some plans for next year.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Decorations will stay up, roast dinner will be prepared, crackers will be pulled and silly hats worn and presents will be unwrapped! We shall just stay in heaps for the rest of this week instead.
I am so sorry. But its going to be a wonderfully long Christmas!:D0 -
Re avocados
One of my favorite meals of ALL time is a salad of avocado! grapefruit and grilled duck breast for a warm salad or smoked chicken for a hot summer day salad. Milly moo, bet it would be ok with turkey too, lean white meat. Intensely healthy, fresh and vital.
I struggle with out a certain amount of meat in my diet ( but by no means need to eat it daily) and while carbs are very good for my situation I find it very easy to feel laden down by them and bloated and I don't often like very greasy food. This salad gives me healthy fats I need, meat and the refreshing zing to cut through the fat. It might be one to try.0 -
Seven, try not to take the comments to heart. People don't seem to realise that actually some people need a bit of extra help and that in the long run it's more beneficial to help people now than let thing get worse. I've had free and then discounted gym membership which was partly to try and help with weightloss but also because of the beneficial effect exercise has on my mental health. I can diet and exercise all I want but unless I get help with the psychological side it's not going to help me change in the long run. People who've never had problems with their weight take for it for granted and assume cos it's easy for them is easy for everyone where as those of us who have struggled know that is not the case.
WaS sorry you and WaSp are still ill, hope you're new year (new Christmas shall we call it?) is better!
I had a good Christmas but it's back to work todaythankfully it's only a short shift and though it will be busy it should go quickly

I completely understand about how you hope that your band will help gain the control you need to help with your ED, Melly. It is a technique that would work for me. I have severe OCD as well as an ED(and a myriad of other things) and have used my OCD at times to give me a feeling of control, lessening the impact of the ED. Not that I recommend that you acquire OCD!
Today so far WaSp has backache and a headache and is sneezing frequently. I have chest pain and feel like someone has poured some razor blades down my throat and am constantly coughing. Thank you. Nope OH can have the OCD I am fine with just the ed ta. Though the control element is very important to me so perhaps the two are linked?
Horrid cold currently lying on the couch draped in dogs.
Hope you both get better soon.

Aw, thank you MU.
For me melly, my OCD and ED are linked in that they both ways of gaining control when everything feels out of control. The more stressed I feel, the worse they both get. I have learnt to use the OCD to battle the ED, however. If my eating pattern collapses if I focus on an OCD trait and repeat that I can sometimes lessen the impact of the ED. The whole thing is about feeling as if I am controlling my environment and body, it is just that neither are in healthy ways to do so. The only downside is then I am stuck with an OCD relapse...
Quick disclaimer-A need for control is the cause of my ED and OCD, it may be different for others. This is purely my own experience.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France
