It's the MIL and SIL Just gotta focus on eating something once I break the deadlock I work on upping the amount

My husband is a recovered anorexic. He'll always not be an eater when stressed but I don't think he'll ever suffer anorexia again.

He has a varied diet, likes some junk and is a gourmand and we have generally some guidelines about food.

During high stress times ( e.g. Last year I was worried as he lost weight very quickly) he manages food by controlling not necessarily how much now but what goes in. He makes sure his diet is extremely healthy, if basic and a little 'Spartan'. He takes a green smoothie full of things like spiralina if he cannot eat. Or veg juices. His other outlet is that he balances his intake with physical activity ( he goes to the gym). He finds it offers him control at these peak times to make choices like tofu over meat, vegetables over 'rubbish' and to feel he is supporting him self with supplements. In truth this is actually just a different type of outlet for the same manifestation ....but a less damaging one. Similarly, its better to eat 'junk food' over nothing if its what you can tolerate.

While you are struggling it might be worth seeing your GP and getting some advice about a good bit/ mineral supplement at the very least.

Just eaten half a taco shell now need to stop myself walking it off.
  • Hello, mellymoo. I have an eating disorder myself and swing from eating next to nothing to binge eating when I am stressed. I always found the element of control is very important when I don't want to eat so I would plan a time to eat, plan what it was going to be and have a tiny amount. If I could do that and not exercise it away then that was enough for now and I would be proud that I had managed that much. Tiny amounts, at planned times so everything still felt under my control. I don't know if that would help you or not because everyone has different ED triggers and coping strategies. Please do post whenever you wish, no one will ever judge you here, we will always be here to listen.

Thank you Was how where the raindeer
  • The reindeer were wonderful! It was more than I could have hoped for and I am bowled over by how kind everyone was. Just waiting for my pain medication to hit in and I shall tell everyone all about it! My body isn't too happy with 8 hours exercise but all will be fine soon. Then I shall write a meeting reindeer (and Santa!) essay!

Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).
  • It was amazing! When we arrived everyone at the reception desk knew we were coming. An elf came out and greeted us and told me before I went in I first had to make the magical wish. She put fairy dust (glitter) on my hand and I had to close my eyes and say I wish that I could go, off to the North Pole! and blow the dust off of my hand.

Then we walked into the wonderland which was a huge walkway lined with decorated tree's and animals (they had 158 polar bears!) and she grabbed WaSp's camera and took photo's of us walking through. Then we got to Mother Christmas's house and we had to knock and inside elves and Mother Christmas sang "Jingle bells, jingle bells" and we had to sing as loud as we could "Jingle all the way!" We rehearsed this 3 times beforehand (WaSp had a fixed grin at this point).

Mother Christmas introduced me to 4 more elves and we all posed for a photo together. Then she took me to a big bowl filled with flour and glitter and I had to stir the pudding and close my eyes and make a wish. After this she took me to a table and gave me two cupcakes to decorate with lots of yummy toppings! After I did that she placed them in a little bag for me and tied it with a ribbon. We then went to another table and made some sandwiches and I used a Christmas tree shaped cutter on them. The elves took them outside and brought us coffee and we ate the sandwiches while surrounded with all of the tree's and winter scenes. The elves danced and squabbled over who got cake around us.

Then we went through to the decoration area and my elf guide and I made paper chains which she draped around my neck. I had to do a snow White jigsaw before I was allowed to go on to the next part!

We then visited the reindeer. I was told children aren't allowed in the field but as I was grown up they would let me. We went inside and they gave me vegetables and all of the reindeer came running! They are surprisingly strong! They were absolutely beautiful and I got to feed and stroke them.

Then another elf appeared and asked if I was ready to see Santa? I had to knock three times on Santa's door and shout "Santa! Santa!" An elf opened the door and there he was! He asked me if I had been good and told me that I must go to bed early on Christmas Eve because he can't leave my presents while I am awake. He also said that he would be watching me until Christmas day! He then asked if I wanted a photo with him so I sat next to him and an elf took a photo. Finally he asked if I wanted a present? I said yes, please! He reached behind his chair and brought out a huge cuddly penguin wearing a Happy Christmas t-shirt!

We then left Santa and walked through another long path of tree's and decorations. These decorations were interactive and if you pressed their tummies they spoke or sang songs! At the end of the path all of the elves and Mother Christmas were waiting for me and they all gave me a hug and wished me Merry Christmas.

When we left the manager of the centre was waiting outside. He gave me a kiss on the cheek and handed me a glittery bauble with the photo of Santa and I inside it!

I am completely overwhelmed by how incredibly kind they were. It was absolutely magical and they stayed in character just as if I was a small child! I got to do everything the children do! I offered to pay at the end or at least for some of what they had given me and the manager said don't be silly, Happy Christmas. I honestly can't find the words to tell you how wonderful it was! What incredibly kind people.

Hahahahaha! WaSp has lots of pictures as his camera was stolen by an elf which he will upload soon! We have photo's of the whole experience! I shall upload the penguin, the displays and the reindeer! Honestly, my face is aching from grinning so much!

The manager also said that none of my experience would be used for publicity, it was purely for me to experience it. Now I feel like I should advertise for them because they were so lovely!
