Tell WaSp to take his camera to hide behind.
(aaargh! No WaSp! Not the face! Not the face!)
Edit. Just thought.....a 6ft 2" elf? Ummm, maybe not!
Edit. A reindeer! He could dress up as a reindeer!! Yey! Sorted!
Edit. Or a snowman! Even better!(I just lurve spiders!)

Yes! We must take photo's!
I am just as touched by the kindness of the Garden Centre. They didn't have to do this, it is such a sweet thing to do for me. I was as honest with them as I am here and told them all about the blanket, the fact I suffer with mental illness and how I have always been sad that I was never allowed to take part in Christmas as a child. The response is more than I could have hoped for, I just asked to see the reindeer, I didn't expect the full tour or a personal one after it closed! I keep getting all tearful thinking about it, sometimes people can be very, very kind.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

Well, as Whitewing and JM said, they are probably delighted that you asked them!
It can be just as exciting giving someone a treat as getting the treat!
So you're doing them a big favour!(I just lurve spiders!)

Awww, I really hope they feel my joy, too. I will probably be laughing like a little child all of the way through it. WaSp is asking if there is any way he can sit in the car and hide, I said no! My Christmas has been made, this is literally a dream come true for me.
Oh, oh and I get to buy a photo with Santa and the reindeer at the end if I want! I think the budget will stretch to that!Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

This is interesting - loads of sheep, as far as the eye can see!
Edit. Oh yes, you must have an official photo with Santa! You could show MiL - she'll be so proud!
In fact, why not give her a copy in a frame as her Xmas prezzie? Especially if you can persuade WaSp to be in it too!(I just lurve spiders!)

I felt sadder and sadder because my mother would never allow me to do anything like that. So I thought, I could sit and feel sad or I could try and change that.
I emailed a garden centre that has 7 reindeer, explained how old I am, that I was never allowed to join in with things like that as a child due to my mothers illness and it has always been one of my regrets. I offered to pay extra if they would let me meet the reindeer, and said that it would make Christmas for me. I also said I am mentally ill myself and cannot be in crowds so could it be at a very quiet time? (I explained about the need for a blanket).
The manager wrote back and said he and the elves would be delighted to do that for me. If I arrive 20 minutes after the centre closes on the 22nd it will be empty and he and the elves will walk with me through the Wonderland experience, I can feed the reindeer and at the end I can visit Santa! What's more it is all free of charge!
What an incredibly nice man! I am going to see reindeer and Santa! And there won't be people there! I had a little cry, I can't believe it. This is something for little me that never got the chance and all of the little ones in the inner world. I finally get to do it!
That has brought tears to my eyes.
What an incredibly kind man.
And how wonderful for you WaS! And how brave of you to write that e-mail and be so honest!
How I hope you have a thoroughly wonderful and magical time and that there will be perhaps a little bit of healing in that part of you that did not ever get to see Father Christmas when you were a child (I hope that is not a penguin, I will remove it if so).

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -
That's an idea, Pyxis! I have no doubt that WaSp will reluctantly take part, probably scarlet and shuffling his feet throughout, mind you!
Awww, join me in being tearful, SDW! I wasn't about to hide my difficulties so I was as honest as I could be. I had to mention the blanket because I didn't want to scare the children visiting. The managers response was more than I could have hoped for, what a lovely man. I was just expecting 5 minutes with reindeer if I was lucky, not the full experience! I probably won't sleep the night before, I can't express how much this means to me and it also overlays a sad memory with a very happy one. It took years but I got to do it eventually!Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

We'll all be there with you in spirit, WaS! I'm putting it in my diary....

Co-co-starring Santa and the Elves!

Hahahahahaha! I can't wait, I am ridiculously excited! As it will be dark WaSp said we can drive around and look at people's decorations for a while afterwards if I want to, that sounds like a lovely idea! As there will only be a handful of people I will try it without my blanket, I will carry it over my arm just in case along with Sir Pugliet! Of course, he has visit Santa and the reindeer, too! Expect many, many excited posts afterwards! Mind you, I will probably be going on about it daily until the 22nd now!Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

May be a penguin for some at the moment.
It's an article about a vet softening the blow of a pet being put to sleep.

Thanks.
I'm not reading arm but can conform we are now a two dog family.
Kiwi and dog dog and we went out together to do some shopping this morning, something we could never have managed before. The dogs were beautifully behaved. We were thrilled that shome shops even invited us in and can confirm dogs in shops does encourage impulse buys..
Other people were coming in to see them too. They Got lots of comments on their outfits ( because they were on leads and going to be standing around a lot they wore coats).
Of course, being out wiped me out, so I zonked out this afternoon. There is a nother market we want to go to, its quite a bit smaller, but I think we'll go tomorrow because today was always going to be the 'worst' for being busy and stuff.
I'm so tired I might sleep from now till new year though so.....0
