Tip! Think up, and remember a list of, say, five things you could use to start a conversation/fill an awkward silence. Could be things you've seen on a thread on here, a joke or pic, or something else you heard somewhere. You could even get a game going at the table, like where you have to remember things the previous people have said in a list.
I'll google some table games.......
Oh yes, and if you catch someone's eye by accident, smile! (rather than look away). Everyone likes a smile! Don't worry if they then look puzzled!(I just lurve spiders!)

OH has about 12 christmas do's usually - none of them are nice civilised lunches though, and they all involve nastier and nastier hangovers as he gets older lol. Have told him he's too old for playing football and all night drinking now.... think he's starting to believe me.
Ours usually start nice and civilised and end with jaeger bombs and people snogging people they shouldn't.Eu não sou uma tartaruga. Eu sou um codigopombo.0 -

Their stuff? Like "nice dress where is it from?" or their stuff as in "how are things down below?":rotfl:Eu não sou uma tartaruga. Eu sou um codigopombo.0 -
You can do it, Code!

Well done, Gitdog! We are all proud of you!
It will be fine, code. My routine at office parties used to be a permanent smile and ask people questions, preferably ones that complimented them! People love talking about themselves, if you take an interest in what they are saying they will carry on chatting and all you need to do is smile and nod and make appropriate noises in the right places.
Milliefleur had her first bath for years this morning with her new carers help! She hated having someone with her at first but once she was in the bath the carer stood outside of the open door with her back turned and Milliefleur thoroughly enjoyed soaking for a while. I think she will get used to it.
I got some free samples from Clinique this morning so I am sitting here wearing lipstick, perfume and mascara. WaSp thinks I've lost the plot...Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

Did you ever find a light box, Pyxis? Please let it be you who mentioned it, my memory is shot today so I could be wrong. Example- I was just whining that my pain meds didn't work, I looked at the packet and I haven't actually taken them yet. I swear I remember doing it.
