Yes, I do this too! I really like it!
Because it's only 2 days a week, it's very manageable! And as you say, the two empty days feel good inside! Weight loss, though, depends on how much you eat on other days.

However, Code, the 5:2 isn't just for weight loss, remember, the other health benefits are enormous, like giving your body a rest from insulin production, like reducing the levels of IGF-1, like reducing abdominal and organ fat, and increasing BDNF factors which can help protect against dementia and age-related mental decline., as well as improving mood.

So weight loss is just one of the benefits of this 'life-style' method.

Edit. Yes! I had wondered about a burkha! Also there's one type, forget the name, where there's also a thin veil over the eye-slit, so people can't see your eyes either, but you can see out.

I stopped because we were undergoing fertility investigations and its not recommended for fertility. I found it easier to do the full on, no food until dinner fast and because I need to take painkillers a lot, I can't really do that anymore.

Morning code! I hope that your toe improves over the day. I hate foot pain.

Funnily enough I have thought of a bhurka. I also watch all the women in beautiful sari's walking past and wonder if that would work. Some have matching scarves over their head and little cloths over their mouth and nose, I think that might be just enough covering for me to feel hidden enough.

You could go for the niqab. I've considered it as it would keep my face covered. I love saris. I wish I was from a culture where I had such beautiful national dress.

  • I'm just a bit worried, WaS, that if you wore the burkha or niquab you might become subject to anti-Islam insults :( I didn't want to mention it, but think we should consider all sides to the suggestion :( (You probably know how Islamic people are treated in your community a lot better than I do, though. I do think that anyone as nice as you will probably shine through and deflect any nasty comments before they are made :) )

    This is what I mean....

It is called a burka, apparently. I get confused with the names.

Edit. Even if you only wore it to your appointments, WaS, it would mean you could sit up in the car and see the world! You could go for more drives out!

Hmm, that is a point JM. I wish we lived in a more accepting culture. The thought of that does put me off wearing one, especially on the train.

At this time of year you can really cover up.

Because my breathing is affected by the cold air, I wear a hat or hood, plus a scarf around my mouth to warm the air.

If you then have a pair of glasses with tinted lenses, or heavy frames, there wouldn't be much of your face to see!

  • Hmm, that's a thought JM. There is a Hindu temple nearby so I could probably get away with a Sari, although then again I hope it wouldn't offend the people going to the temple. It is always an option just to wear something that covers me totally just in the car so I can still see deer and bunnies!

Alternative to burqa - huge mans flasher mac from the charity shop. Snood (mainly because its such a great word, any excuse to use it.) This would also help the neuralgia. Scarf pulled up over mouth a la michael jackson. Sunglasses. Topped with a wide brimmed hat for the jackie Onassis factor.:D
