There are some real life reindeer not too far from me! I'll have to see if I can photograph or film them for you!
Did you know they have fantastic feet! They look a bit like camels' feet. And they have a special bone in their fetlock or somewhere that clicks when they walk. Apparently, in the dark Lapland nights, they know that if they hear the clicking, they know it's a reindeer and not a predator!
Also, I heard that males shed their antlers before Christmas, so if Santa's reindeer had antlers, they would have to have been female! Sorry Rudolph, but you're named wrongly!
That's great LIR! The sky's the limit, eh? I know, I should be cirrus about art!(I just lurve spiders!)

That is wonderful, LIR! I would love a ceiling like that, how magical!
I would love to see the reindeer, Pyxis! I track Santa on Norad every Christmas and it makes me feel a little excited and helps ease my lack of Santa memory. I have always found the most effective way for me to deal with bad memories is to replace them with a good one, then they stop making me cringe. Very true, Pyxis! I really love catching up on my missed bits of childhood and I don't care how silly it makes me look. It is never too late!Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

I'd never heard of NORAD! Just googled them! Cripes! Santa on radar or whatever!
It doesn't start until 1st Dec though, so what exactly do they track? After all, Santa doesn't leave Lapland until the night of the 24th, does he?(I just lurve spiders!)

They have little games leading up to the 24th and then they track him on a map as he goes from country to country! There are videos that they film with satellites of him flying over cities and a record of how many presents he has dropped off! I stay up every Christmas Eve until he visits the UK and usually wipe away a tear when he does because I really am that soppy.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

Fir and I are adults in a childless house. We have a stocking each, and those are our gifts to each other. DH iis from a different cultural background, still adores Christmas.
Pink whistley ADORES Christmas, when the decorations box comes out she gets very excited and sits in the box and looks at the things. She doesn't chew tinsel, but she does wrap her self in it as if SHE were the tree ( we only have the tinsel for her, we don't put any on the tree). When the lights are lit on the tree often you'll find her late at night alone, just sitting, watching the tree with adoration.....
She just adores it. The cats both like fireworks too though.0 -
Aww, how sweet, LIR! She really enjoys herself! Christmas isn't just for humans!
Funny that you should mention stockings. I gave WaSp one this year for me and told him he must fill it (I do one for him every year). He is staring at it in total horror and confusion...Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

Lol at poor WaSp but if you do him one he must have some sort of an idea how to fill it? I would love a stocking again,no matter how old we get we all still have our inner child. The most magical memory of my childhood is when I woke on Christmas morning and could feel the weight of my Christmas stocking on my feet.0 -

One of our dogs is blind but, honestly, she can smell her Christmas presents a mile off.
I started buying the other day and hid her squeaky balls (I can tell you all what they are as she won't read this post) in the cupboard and she just sat in front of it whining
