Hope you're managing some sleep now, WaS :) I too, am glad your partner was with you and helped you through this episode :)

  • Sorry Was, I fell asleep, sorry I was not there to keep you company :( Hope you are sleeping well now.

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton
  • Big hugs, WaS. Just to reassure you, this is the real world and this thread is real. And you have Sir P to cuddle as a direct result of this thread, so you know it's a real thing, with real friends out here xxxxxx

It sounds as if it would be very therapeutic for you to see Santa - I'm sure he missed you too when you were little (OK, slight flight of fancy there but I bet it would help you if he told you that!) xxxx

Oh you darling, WaSsie! Big hugs!
I do wish you didn't have to go through that. :(
Sorry I wasn't around.....I had a late night and went spark out, then this morning I had a friend's crisis to deal with, so have only just been able to log on.

Two things in your account made me smile. The thought of you campaigning for the right of adults to see Santa Claus. I think we should demand that Questions be asked about it in the House.
(Mind you, it depends on who Santa is and whether we would be able to sit on his knee. :D)
The other thing was WaSp telling you about the rule changes for the Grand Prix. At first I thought that might be enough to make me want to stay in the 'tween world! But then I realised that no, it would make me want to get back sharpish so that I could ram a real sock in his mouth! :rotfl:

Actually, maybe WaSp could hire a Santa costume and be your real-life Santa for the day! :D

That's a point, our fictional Manor House could have a reindeer/sleigh landing pad! On the roof, next to the turret?

Last year, we went to Centreparcs Longleat for a weekend of Winter Wonderland. DD saw Santa there and it was wonderful. If WaSp contacted them, perhaps it would be possible for you to visit Santa there. It was very slickly organised so wasn't too crowded. There is a firework display at some point which most people go to so it may be possible to do Santa at that point. Santa has a hut in the forest near some festive stalls and singing reindeer.

We saw a life size sleigh at homesense today for sale. Made us giggle.

What didn't was how many people were bickering with each other. :(
  • Hope you feel better now WaS. It must be so frightening to have experiences like that. It is also very educational to hear what goes on in your head when the 'attacks' occur.

Had a really busy family day here so not much time to be online.

    Hugs

  • Good Evening all! Thank you so much for being so kind to me, I feel better today. I am still a bit anxious but I feel more real at least. I am glad that my accounts help teach people, then it is worthwhile writing them down. It also helps to tell you all, it makes me realise that this is the real world and I don't have to worry that I am about to fade away again any second.

The TD went on to 10am by which time I was thoroughly sick of it and my neck pain was horrendous from stretching my arm up in the air. The only way I can describe it is you know when a doctor taps on your knee and your leg jumps with the reflex? It is like that. You have no control over moving your limbs, they just stretch. It used to scare me a lot and it still makes me nervous that one day it might not stop.

You made me laugh, Pyxis! Fortunately I wasn't paying that much attention to the contents of WaSp's conversation but I do now know things about tyre pressure and engine size that I didn't really need to know! He would never normally get away with a 2 hour talk about it, and believe me he can talk for that long about the details!

I would actually like to see Santa, just the once so I can tick it off of my list of things I missed out on as a child. I have always found replacing my bad memories for good ones works very well for me and I would like to overwrite the memory of crying while we stood watching other children going to see him with a happy one. Perhaps one day I might find a way. Or I'll just stuff WaSp in a Santa suit...

Fir and I are NOT artists. But this weekend we've been trying.

We've been painting clouds on a tiny ceiling.

I'm proud of our first attempt. Its VERY difficult for me to be happy with something that's not perfect or that isn't 'good enough' for me to feel 'fully happy' with so I am also proud of being proud of it which I think a lot of you might understand.

Its very pale in the picture, but actually quite pale in real life too. We stopped because we decided we can go back, add more depth and more highlights more easily than tone it down if we went too far. So for at least the nest week, this is a ceiling in my house.
