  • oooh, they might help, thank you for looking in advance. The elastic tends to be too tight by the end of the day on normal socks so I am constantly pulling them up and down to take the pressure off. Hideous doesn't bother me, as long as they do the job I am happy! I have been wanting to get slippers, too to try and firm up my feet for wearing shoes. I have the added problem that one of my toe nails is ingrowing so if anything presses it against the other it hurts a lot. Even slippers can make it very sore.

  • WaS, what did you wear on your feet for your epic cross country trek to MiL? A while ago all sorts of soft shoes or slippers were suggested, such as jazz shoes and slippers with a firmer sole. Did you find something suitable, or just wear several pairs of socks, or wear something unsuitable and put up with sore feet?

    Awwwwwww, wonderful dogs!

I am just like that JM! I get very cold when my thyroid level drops (or boiling hot it seems) but normally I stay at slightly too warm and that is all. I don't notice temperature changes normally and I don't feel heat from pans which is another reason why WaSp needs to be there if I cook. WaSp says I always feel hot to the touch even outside in winter, my temperature control is very broken. Funnily enough so was my dad's, he was out in t-shirts in the snow not noticing it at all, he also had endocrine problems. My consultant tells me that I must wrap up when it's cold despite this because I am not as hot as I think I am and in the extreme there are hypothermia worries. Also my natural body temperature is a few degrees below normal, a normal temperature reading is a fever for me. It has never been explained to me clearly why I have temperature problems, Consultants just use long words about the endocrine system so it is something to do with that and also something my new Neurologist may cover (appointment in 2 weeks). Fortunately I can stand outside of myself and find it interesting so it doesn't bother me too much. Just everyone pity WaSp right now who is wrapped up in just about anything he can get his hands on. I could do with the window being opened...

I have a lower than normal body temperature too WaS, and I feel hot quite a lot too. My thyroid is normal though. I think I'm just naturally cold.:rotfl:

    Today I'm wearing odd socks.

  • I ended up wearing slipper socks Solar! They seem to be the best thing right now. I wore very soft trainers for journeys to the car and buildings but still my feet were sore even in that little time. I have asked for slippers for Christmas from MIL so I am hoping that helps a little.

I love odd socks, Code! Sometimes I wear them for the fun of it!

Please can pics be sent other ways rather than posted and quickly deleted?
I find it hard to deal with and it's stopped me coming on here as much.

We can send pics through pm's instead if they identify us and we can't leave them on the thread as Code did with me just now. On that note I always love animal pics either posted here or in pm, they really do cheer me up. Team WaS's animals are part of our thread, too!

I let WaSp put the heating on. It is now 10c in here and I am sitting in a vest top and pyjama shorts and haven't noticed it being cold at all. I am perfectly comfortable but poor WaSp now has a hot water bottle on his lap and is wearing two pairs of socks plus thermals and normal clothes so I had to give in! This time 4 weeks ago I was shivering under a blanket and it was 25c. This is one for the endocrinologist next week...
