Approved Foods is more expensive these days, I still use them though for tins and staples though, especially now value food is disappearing. They haven't had any cheap boiled sweets for ages which believe it or not, I need. My blood pressure pill has the side effect of a really persistent dry cough, there is no medication to counteract it so all I was advised was to keep sucking boiled sweets. Unless I say otherwise presume that I am always sucking a sweet or a mint, even in the middle of the night.

I asked pharmacist ( not mine, one in supermarket) this afternoon, about cold and flu meds and they advised against.
I'm not sure it its going to me worse than a sniffly cold now...I'm not on same cycle as those of you in sync with each other and I think that might have something to do with it. I can hardly stay awake ATM, but it bought spinach and have defrosted steak, I think I need red meat.0 -
Aw, I am so sorry, LIR. Did the pharmacist say why cold meds are inappropriate? There are a lot of decongestants that I can't take due to drug interactions but I find I can skip those by buying cough mixture and pain killers and taking everything separately. Funny story about that-because I can only have opiates the only cough mixtures I can have are codeine based. WaSp gets questioned why he wants them when he buys me a bottle because they are used by some for having fun! Hopefully yours is just sniffles, crossing everything.
Red meat is a good idea. I eat very little but always have some around TOTM.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

Honey seems to work best for DD with the sniffles. We give her a spoonful a day then
NB. IMPORTANT - Check the label on the honey for children as you shouldn't give it to babies..:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
Guess who just put the kettle on with no water in it? Now we need a new one. Stupid memory!Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

There do seem to be a lot of lurgies around at rhe moment.
Decided to combine walking Gitdog with visiting mother who is still not able to get up. Didn't realise the baby gate was open till I heard a squeal and found 23kg of Gitdog had just bounced on a sleeping parent's head. Little beggars never jumped on a bed before. He's currently canis non grata. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Hahahahaha! I love Gitdog! I would let him share the bed with me, WaSp would just have to decamp to the sofa at weekends.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

Always-Hungry-Dog always pops upstairs and jumps on the beds when we visit people (unless I remember to warn them and not let her off. ) She especially likes it when they store food in upstairs rooms
she went through a Christmas Hamper once
Maybe I need to do more obedience trainingDecluttering, 20 mins / day Jan 2024 2/20 -

A fried once invited me with dog dog and two big dogs to a dinner party in a flat. I explained they might sit on sofas etc, and she said 'fine' so we went. They went straight up to her pent house and sat one on each sofa and behaved like a dream really. Until dog dog got tired, and snuck out and went and tucked herself into her bed:eek:.
Still, at least they didn't steal food or anything!0
