Anyone want a dog? Gitdog has been on his own practically all weekend, so his anxiety has kicked in and he's superglued himself to my leg. Whilst appreciating that its not his fault, he's driving me up the wall as I keep tripping over him. I may have to let him do his lapdog impression in a bit to make it up to him.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

A mole on your leg would be potentially more serious than a gitdog, according to Dr Google.

I just remembered that I had washing out on the line, so I rushed out for that. It is wonderfully fresh and mostly dry. I am chuffed.

Oh WaS! I'm so jealous! I'd love to be able to fix clocks! I've always loved clocks and have acquired several over the years, none of which work. I'd like to learn how to mend them at some point. It's on the list!

I find their ticking and chiming very comforting! I can even sleep with a chiming clock in my bedroom!

I am constantly being surprised by your talents, WaS!

Have you not thought about doing clock repairs? You could do it in a small way from home. There is a shortage of people who know how to service and repair mechanical clocks, for a reasonable price.
Or even buy up non-working clocks cheaply from charity shops and car boots, then repair them and sell them on!

Does that tick any boxes for you? :D

I'll have Gitdog, elsien! I am always willing and I have a warm lap covered in a blanket waiting for him!

Hahahahaha, I am a mind of useless information, Pyxis. Do look up how to fix them, it is quite easy-I could do it as a child once I was shown how. Special tools make it easier although you can get by with tweezers, very fine files and white spirit. Oh, and either fine feathers or thin paint brushes, usually those in painting sets are best. Watches are just as easy apart from more fiddly, you need a magnifying glass and you have to use feathers to clean those, brushes aren't small enough to reach the components. I repaired MIL's 60 year old clock a few years ago. A cog had become detached and I still remembered how to fix it and I took the rust off, too so it should work for years now. My grandad taught me well. I have never thought of doing it myself, I suppose it could be useful as there are probably less clock menders than there used to be years ago, not that many people still have mechanical clocks. You have got me thinking now!

I think I might be getting a cold. :(. Feeling really rough.
  • Awww, that's not good, LIR! Lots of snuggling under blankets and hot drinks. Do take it easy this week. Wishing you lots of healthy good thoughts!

Thanks WaS. this year I'm not going to have any choice but to snuggle and drink hot drinks. I'm really mindful of the 'must remain stable' caveat to my potential surgery go ahead. I'm pretty sure I'm not meant to take paracetamol with my drugs though I'll check with the pharmacist, if I can I'll stock up on lemsips. :)

Fingers crossed on the paracetamol, LIR. That is one of the few painkillers that I can take so you might be ok. I can't take anything with aspirin or ibruprofen and other than paracetamol I can only use opiates, everything else is contraindicated. It's a pain (ha!) because Lupus causes inflammation but anti-inflammatories are out. I like Lemsips just as a drink, especially the blackcurrant ones.

This is an early Disney cartoon from 1931 called the Clock Symphony. It's ok to watch, WaS, although the clocks are all anthropomorphic!
