I am having a panic. Actually panic is not the word, more like a total meltdown. Job interview tomorrow, through an agency so I have a brief job description but no person spec, interview panel includes the Director of Ops and the agency has just mentioned in passing that there will be a role play.
I've not had this sort of interview in about 15 years. It's for a higher level position than I've done before and I'm feeling very underqualified. And scared.
*Takes self firmly by scruff on neck and gives self a good shake.*

If you see me on here again don't talk to me, I'm meant to be practicing my answers.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

It's ok, I'm not talking to you, I'm sending you subliminal messages!!:-

    Role play....acting!...let's play pretend!.......be someone else!......have fun!.......

Higher level job!.......that's ok! 'Cos it's all good experience ........and I can see how well I do!......and let's me off the hook!......

Director of Ops.......imagine her/him sitting there naked with a goldfish on her/his head and a big blob of cream on her/his nose!...

What's the worst that could happen?....... No worst!.......Got smartly dressed....having a day out......doing a bit of fun acting........and pretending I'm this super-cool person........and then afterwards treating myself to a slap-up lunch/afternoon tea at a swanky restaurant!............

    Go girl! Go!

    elsien,

You will be absolutely fine. The interviewers will be skilled at spotting a person's potential and will know that they can polish up any skills that are lacking 'on the job'. Go and enjoy yourself. Don't think of the interview as a test (nerve wracking), think of it as an opportunity to learn more about the local world, have a great time and be yourself. You have a huge amount of experience - let it shine through.
:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.

    !

Pyxis, you are a genius, first laugh of the day. Only problem is I'm now not going to be able to look at any of the panel without getting the giggles.

Elsien, they wouldn't be giving you an interview of they didn't think you could do the job. So smile, be the person you'd like to be in these situations and try not tp be nervous. Good luck x

  • Elsien, based on your general presentation on this board, you could EASILY be a [STRIKE]person with a goldfish on their head[/STRIKE] Director of Ops. Go gettem, girl!

Took me 4 hours to drive here. THinking of coming back v late tonight to avoid the traffic :(

Was, still want kiwi? He's in the dog house again to night, so he's very close to going in a big parcel in the post to you for a cuddling holiday.

He went walkabout and I'd just called the dog warden ( the shame of it) when he turned up looking pleased with him self.

LIR your dog Kiwi's definitely human :rotfl:

Hope everyone's well, I'm doing some serious catching up on here today :)

Good luck with your interview Elsian I'm sure you will do well and you'll be absolutely fine :) my housemate was worrying about an interview the other day and my advice to her was try and be confident, even if it's fake confidence, walk in there actually believing that you are the bees knees (which you are!) and let your awesomeness shine through!

Talking of going walkabout, I was hearing on the news about those GPS things for people with Alzheimer's to wear, so that they can go out on their own, but if they get lost/go missing, they can easily be found.

Perhaps they make them for dogs!
Seriously, though, I'm sure one could be incorporated into their collars. I know it prob wouldn't be cheap, but then if they were on sale generally, the cost would come down?

After all, they're on a lot of cars - mine came with a tracker thing - so why not dogs?

Any enterprising IT entrepreneurs out there?
