Aww, thank you, Pyxis! That really does help.
The ladder scenario did make me laugh especially as my windows face onto a very busy street. It would be slightly ridiculous to imagine someone doing it!
I really do have fire alarms, and I hate them! They go off when I make toast! They are the most over-sensitive fire alarms in the world! Everyday they go off in one of flats and you hear people swearing, so I would definitely know if there was a fire (I would know if someone lit a match!). The only downside is if there was an actual fire we would all probably ignore the alarm and think someone was cooking instead. Although the fireman idea is tempting for other reasons...
I touch wood, throw salt over my shoulder, anything possible really! Plus I have all of my little OCD rituals to ward off anything nasty. The latter are quite funny in that WaSp doesn't even react to them anymore, he used to ask what on earth I was doing once. He is quite used to me pausing in conversation to blow my arm where I have accidentally breathed on the other one so that I have to make it even for example, it has become a normal occurrence. I have found ways to disguise that I do these when in public luckily so no one really notices (I hope) but i have loads of little good luck routines.
Yes, I am babbling, feel free to ignore me everyone. When I babble I am not worrying and I manage to distract myself for a few minutes. Pity WaSp when he gets here, I shall be talking nonsense at him for hours.
Have a break and then go for it, LIR! I bet you smell nice! I love perfumes and moisturisers but haven't had any good ones for years now, the budget doesn't stretch to that unfortunately. I have discovered some very nice smelling children's toiletries, though that tend to be far cheaper!Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

Sometimes AD's can stabilise a person and give them the opportunity to discover why they've been depressed and worrying about all manner of catastrophes. Sometimes it can be identified that there was a basic serious worry which the worrier couldn't allow themselves to worry about so they project the worry onto all manner of things they don't need to worry about.
I hope that makes sense......................I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

Haven't had time to read all the posts after WaS' this morning.
WaS, your worries are the same as my worries, in that they are worries that grow if I dwell on them. They are as important as any worries of any of ours. Worries grow legs and start running around. You need a fly swat.
Hakuna matata.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
Hahahaha you made me laugh, whitewing. I really do need a fly swat! Ypou are totally correct, the more I dwell on them the bigger they get and they move onto connected things as well.
Hello, Errata! you are totally correct. That happened to me when I went onto antidepressants at 18 because I was constantly depressed and anxious about everything. After taking them for a while it enabled me to realise that there was in fact one 'secret' problem that I was avoiding looking at so I worried about everything else instead. As long as my mind was occupied with everything else then I didn't have to look at the big one.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

Thanks, Errata, yes it makes perfect sense, thanks. Will make him that Doc's appointment now!
I notice that several of you have dogs with various nicknames. I'm looking after two dogs this week for friends. I will call them Big Handsome Boy (BHB) and Old Gal (OG). I've looked after them before many times, we do it for other people professionally, but this is done for Mates' Rates.
BHB is Spanish. He is a cross between a Spanish Pointer and some type of sighthound and he was born and spent the first two years of his life in Spain. Because of his breeds, he is tall with long legs and quite elegant, a lovely temperament, a real charmer.
He lived in Spain with a Dutch lady in the village where we lived at the time (so we always say he is tri-lingual in Spanish, Dutch and English), but started chasing livestock (not a good thing to do in a farming area) and was therefore under a death sentence. His owner was really upset because she did love him but didn't know what to do.
Anyway, our friends came to visit us, they had just lost their border collie through old age and I must admit I thought 'BHB would really suit them' and engineered a meeting. They fell in love with him straight away. His Dutch owner was delighted that he could go to a new home in a new country and have a fresh start. She kept him for six months while he got his pet passport and then he went over from Santander to Portsmouth with our friends on the ferry. He has lived happily in the Midlands with OG ever since. Happy ending! (Even for his Dutch owner, she got a rescue chihuahua, much more suitable for her). He still chases small furry things given the chance, never managed to get that out of him.
Old Gal is a rescue lurcher who in her younger days loved huge long walks (marathon length), but is too old now. She is a lovely girl, very obedient and walks to heel (maybe she could give Gitdog some lessons). She is actually the pack leader of the two, although BHB looks very aggrieved about this sometimes.
We enjoy looking after BHB and OG, they are both nice animals and good companions. BHB can charm the birds off the trees!
Thought it might interest someone to hear about some of the dogs we look after.

This is a magic post
No penguin in this post. The white bit is a worry free zone. What you have to do is put your finger on the WFZ and it will suck all the worries out of you and set them free over the internet, where they will attach themselves to trolls and no-one else. (Tinternet is clever like that). Try it!
(Sorry not to have time to reply to your post in full, but I agree with all the posts made. The only people looking through your windows are angels and fairies - the latter are just developing their latest spells to get through the glass to your fairy door)

You're most welcome. Human beings are very, very good at lying to themselves.

1) You have regularly medical appointments- if there was anything to worry about it would be picked up.
2) To quote another user (Errata?) your not that powerful
3) Very very unlikely.
4) Why you pay rent?
5) Very very unlikely - you have a number of medical conditions and the full support of your dr's.
6) lots of ideas a re always being bandied about few come off- remember the ill fated ID cards?
7) Hopefully not until he is a very very very old man.
8) Used to work in home insurance this is extremely unlikely- as you are in the house most of the time -a major deterrent- unless you have secretly stashed the crown jewels then i do not think you need to worry.
9) You have over active fire alarms! You no longer smoke.
10) You are one of if not the most popular poster I have ever come across- you draw people to you like a magnet. This thread is evidence of how wonderful you are and that NO ONE thinks that.
11) Why? Unless you have lots of juicy gossip you have not yet shared? Doubt very much even standing outside anyone would hear anythign anyway so what a waste of time it would be!
12) You have to have notice and even if they did come you have have nothign to fear.
13) He would be devastated but would learn to manage. But we all need you so you are going to have be at least 110...!
14) I refer you back to point 10. Your worries and concerns are equally as important as anyone elses -you are not being silly- you are ill. I do worry lots about different things and could easily produce a long list too- and i daresay many of the posters could- and some of what would be on our lists may seem silly to someone else who does not worry about the same things but that does not meant the worries are not valid or real to that person.
15) Lots of people have this- but this is just part of being ill- but you have felt like this for a few hours today and nothing has happened and i am willing to bet that nothing will happen in the next hour of the one after that or the one after that either. So I think you still need to think about what your having for tea!

What adorable dog stories, SDW! One of the highlights of the thread for me is reading about everyone's pets, I love hearing their stories.
I did it, JM and it actually helped! Sometimes I love how easily my brain is convinced, thank you! Hope the packing is going smoothly!
Aw, thank you haybel and what lovely things to say about me. It really does help if I am told why my worries should be forgotten. How are you feeling today?Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France
