The trainer said today that with another owner he may have been PTS by now. Which is ridiculous because under all the bad behaviour he is actually the friendliest dog I've ever owned. No malice in him at all, just no impulse control and very strong teeth.
I love hearing about gitdog. I think you are doing an amazing job with him. I really do. I did obedience training with my Max for a year (had to stop when pregnant as was asleep by 7pm and partner works nights so cannot get to the sessions now). I do remember how disheartening it can be when you have a bad training session or it does not got to plan- but look how far you have come.
Max loved it and i learned such a huge amount. I did clicker training- I keep meaning to get the clicker out and do some more with him- he loves it.
With regards to what the trainer said- i think a lot of people get dogs and are very quick to give up with the slightest issue rather than put the required time and effort in to get the desired result- of course this is not always the case... So huge pat on the back for you for standing by Gitdog.
The trainer we used to go to said- it would be boring to have an absolutely perfect dog - it would be like having a machine with no personality and i quite agree.
How did you end up with Gitdog?
My Max mended my broken heart when i had a miscarriage - I needed someone to love and he bounded into my life - full of energy and enthusiasm and a big love of cuddles. He was 7.5 wks old weighed 2.2kg and the day I saw him I brought him home (I saw an advert visited the same day and took a new bed, toy and blanket in the car - OH says I visited with intent! lol.
Max is in very good books because he just sorted the very big spider that attempted to take up residence in the living room. I am not quite sure why he thinks he has to eat them though?Make £10 a day challenge November £125.60/310

Yes, haybel, I took it as a most lovely compliment.
(I meant with my comment to your post that I felt fairly certain that WaS was worrying about something that was unlikely to happen ie benefit cards, particularly regarding internet access).
Oh good glad you knew it was a compliment. Just wanted to make sure as I would hate to have come across other than intended.Make £10 a day challenge November £125.60/310

How did I end up with Gitdog? !!!! knows.
Failed to engage brain at some point when I was doing a transport run which somehow turned into temporary foster for a few days.
That was a year ago.
My wish list said english bull terrier, calmer end of the spectrum, good with people and children, not a dog that barks a lot, can take it on long countryside walks.
Well he's part english bull terrier. That's the only bit I got right. The rest of the wishlist kind of got lost somewhere along the way.:rotfl:
Reasons to be cheerful.
The sun has been out and my outside house painting has gone ahead. Gitdog is only semi-striped following this process.
My garden is having a final flush of colour before I do all the winter pots etc.
Due to my skills for redundancy course, I am officially a student so am making the most of all the discounts I can find.
The Blues Brothers is back on tv again this week. I will be dancing around the sitting room like a loon in due course. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Old enough to know better - 3 or 4 ish.
Taking him on was actually a head over heart decision, oddly enough. I didn't fall for him straight off but thought I could see his potential and decided that his bad habits were trainable. So it was kind of "ok I want a rescue EBT, this is probably as good as it's going to get."
His bad habits are proving to be a lot harder to work with than I ever anticipated, but he's wormed his way in there now, so it's back to heart over head. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Bless him. Do you still think they are trainable?
Max currently has a habit of opening the downstairs toilet door, stealing the toilet roll and running off.... of course he likes to make sure i know he has got it BEFORE he runs off.Make £10 a day challenge November £125.60/310

Ok elsien, I'd like you take a look at gitdog.
Have you done it?
Good. Now think about what might have become of him if you didn't rescue him.
You did an amazing thing and you saved him and one day he will repay all your hard work. You are a legend.Eu não sou uma tartaruga. Eu sou um codigopombo.0 -

re. your electrics. Is the report part of a quote from a tradesman? If so, don't take it as gospel but get another couple of quotes and 'reports'.
If your place really does need a total rewire, have you thought of maybe adding the cost to your mortgage, if you have one?
On the plus side, if you have the work done now, you are at home, and so won't have to take time off work to be at home with electricians working.
Re. the part-time job you wanted, would it be possible to approach other similar firms to find out if they would like to employ you? Don't ask if they have vacancies, just send them your cv and sell yourself! Nothing to lose!
Even if you are forced to take a job you don't want, look on it as temporary while you carry on looking for the right job, or look on it as a stop-gap to get the rewiring paid for, and carry on looking for another job.
It's your nan's anniversary. You are bereaved. Mourn her, cry, wail, throw an old cup at the outside wall and smash it. Give into it. No stiff upper lip. Let it out, let all the frustration out.
With regard to your mum, could you have a chat with her GP to outline your fears and find out what the options are? There are some new drugs for the onset of types of senility, etc. and the right diagnosis can be crucial. It will empower you to look into it now, rather than wait until it worsens. Is your mum amenable to getting help?
Then give Gitdog a big hug and take him for a walk while the weather's still nice!
End of reply penguin. :A(I just lurve spiders!)

Get him to watch 'Lassie' too, as he might pick up some good habits!
Actually, elsien that goes for Gitdog, too! Lassie could be a good role model!
Gitdog could also watch 'One man and his dog'. To see how the best dogs do things!
Trouble is, he may start rounding things up, then! You could come home to find a flock of sheep in your garden!
Elsien, have you thought of sending your Gitdog 'diaries' off to some magazines, for publication? It could be a regular weekly article, on the latest exploits of Gitdog and his long-suffering owner. I know Woman's Weekly used to have articles a bit like that, although I haven't read those magazines for years, so don't know what they're like now!
It's worth a thought! Might open up a new career possibility!
WaS, how are you doing?(I just lurve spiders!)
