I'm not sure if the word 'enthusiastic' made it onto the nice things we think about was. If not I am submitting it should be added.0

Awww, thank you LIR! Funnily enough my friend in America laughs at me because she says I get excited like a child. She is right actually, I do tend to get excited and enthusiastic over things, my natural personality is very bouncy despite my conditions!Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

My husband is like that, its a lovely character trait IMO. Too see things with fresh, childlike enthusiasm and joy.0 -

Haha! I KNEW that would get you going! First tall policemen, now firemen! I see a theme emerging! Go on! I dare you to get a fire inspection appointment!
Yes, I am babbling, feel free to ignore me everyone. When I babble I am not worrying and I manage to distract myself for a few minutes. Pity WaSp when he gets here, I shall be talking nonsense at him for hours.
Babble away! If you think you babble, you should hear me sometimes! I could babble for England! And win gold!
Have a break and then go for it, LIR! I bet you smell nice! I love perfumes and moisturisers but haven't had any good ones for years now, the budget doesn't stretch to that unfortunately. I have discovered some very nice smelling children's toiletries, though that tend to be far cheaper!

My eaus des toilettes are cheap but nice. They are from Italian super markets and cost about 15 euros. I have three, orange, orange blossom and violet ( which I wear to bed sometimes, because it reminds me of somewhere else). We suffer for good inexpensive ranges here.
. We have beautiful stuff in uk, but it costs a lot, this smells like it would cost a lot here.
. Still, because otherwise I wear perfume, not eau de toilette, I do miss it when it wears off.

Wow what a week I've missed! Just been catching up on the thread, the amazing stories and experiences all the contributors to this thread share are humbling in their honesty and humility. Thank you to each and everyone of you for making this my favourite place on MSE forums. It is so inclusive and it feels like it gives a big hug (or warm handshake) every time I pop in.

That's a good idea to ask for samples! I do miss having perfumes and creams and WaSp wouldn't have a problem asking for samples, hopefully it would be very cheap too because birthday and Christmas present money has just been drastically reduced due to WaSp's car battery being on its last legs. We definitely cannot cope without a car and neither can MIL if WaSp can't get there, it is a huge priority for us.
They sound lovely, LIR! Unfortunately my favourite perfume of all time is Chanel 19, trust me to have expensive tastes! I have only had a tiny bottle, my teacher friends ex-wife bought it for me for my 18th birthday which was so sweet of her. I still remember how much I loved it, I made it last until I was 23!
Hello oldestgnome, how lovely to see you! Have a big hug! Sterling, my old psychiatrist described my natural personality as vivacious! Personally I stick to bouncy, it still shows through sometimes, usually when people mention animals!Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

Tell you what, ask WaSp, (if he could stand doing it!), to go into a department store and ask the assistants on the face-care counters if he could have some samples for his partner who is housebound and can't get out. They would either be free, or nominal cost. With your birthday coming up, he could play the birthday present 'card' too!
This is a really good plan. Fir does this and people are always really kind helpful and generous to a guy asking for stuff to suit his partner.0 -
Yay! Another person who likes Chanel 19, I don't feel quite so extravagant now. A much cheaper perfume I like is White Musk from the Body Shop, oh, and a very old one called Chloe because it was the first perfume I ever owned and I remember how sophisticated I felt!Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France
