Pretty please, any chance of a pic?I like the sound of an elfin dog!
There's a site somewhere of dog haircuts gone wrong. You could send it there, too! I'll see if I can find it.(I just lurve spiders!)

Make him look like this! Make him look like this! :j. Roar!
Oh dear! Not this though:-
And definitely not this! Who would do this to their dog? :-
PS. Just found out that cleavers (goose grass) are edible! And it's used by herbalists for kidney and blood pressure problems. Apparently the seeds can be roasted and used as a coffee substitute!
One of my dogs was always diving into the undergrowth and coming out with all sorts attached to her (longish) fur! Sometimes she had half a bush attached to her palm-frond of a tail, and very often bramble strands, (ever tried pulling a lethal bramble branch off an excitable dog?), and yes, clumps of cleavers all over, especially her face. Was forever picking them out. I'm sure she was a botanist in a former life! Probably should have called her Linaea! :rotfl:(I just lurve spiders!)

Good morning all! I have today off work, to pack up the house  Actually had a bit of a 'win' yesterday - I dug my heels into the ground and refused to let an old chest of drawers (utility furniture, very old and battered) be broken up. My plan was to put it at the end of our road with a note saying it would be broken up if no-one adopted it by Thursday. I felt (perhaps naively) that this is not fly tipping as I would have taken it away if no-one had adopted it.
Anyway, Mr JM said it WAS fly tipping, and if I had to do it, at least take it down in the dark. So it sat in our front garden all day and I came home from work at 10pm () last night prepared to move it, only to find it gone. Apparently our nice neighbour - the one who is housing us - had taken a fancy to it! So it has gone to a new home
Now, on to business. Love to all, and all the very very best to haybel for your surgery xxxWaves_and_Smiles wrote: »I usually get a rather contradictory pep talk about not raising my expectations and realising that I am ill and therefore there will always be limitations and that's about it.
I think that's why we're here, WaS, to challenge your limitations. Just look how much you've already achieved! We are here to try to improve the quality of each other's lives
I do have previous....I used to run a service which recruited ordinary people and sent them to work on a 1-1 basis, face to face, with people with serious mental health problems. Sooooo....these workers were told
1. You are working with people who won't get much better
2. But we are expecting them to get quite a lot better, working with you
3. You have to maintain professional boundaries
4. But you will do loads of good by being their friend.
So it was a service full of contradictions, but both clients and workers flourished.
(I actually believe that - apart from cases where medication really helps - most progress in psychiatry comes from the blurring of boundaries, and real human interaction. That's probably a bit of an overstatement, but may sound better in the context of the following even more generalised statement - actually most progress in LIFE comes from real human interaction! Treat people like people, not numbers!!!!!)Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0 -
General query, while I think about it. Does anyone else get psychosomatic pain? I've had this on and off since I was a kid. It's not generally a problem because it's a sign something is bothering me that I need to address, and once I've worked out what is is and addressed it, the pain goes. Just curious, as I'm the only person I know who gets this. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -

Does the pain affect the same place each time, or does it vary?
Is the pain the same quality and intensity each time, or do they vary too?(I just lurve spiders!)

Same place every time, the intensity varies according to how worried/unhappy I am had, and decreases as I sort myself out. I had all the xrays etc when it first started which ruled out physical causes. For a phantom pain though, it can flipping hurt! Pain killers have no effect.
It can actually be quite useful as an early warning system, less so when you can't work out what's triggered it.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

That's very interesting, Elsien.
I do know that stress and anxiety can set off neck or back pain, and/or associated muscle pain, because of changes in posture habit or other habits, caused by the stress, or even caused by teeth grinding at night, due to stress. Even temporary changes in sleeping positions can set things off, too, particularly if you start sleeping on your front.(I just lurve spiders!)

I have to take regular pain killers anyway but the pain is always worse when I feel low.
I think stress and depression not only alters our perception of pain but makes us tense different muscles which can cause unusual aches and pains.
Last time I saw my GP, about a year ago, I went to whinge about pain and came out clutching a prescription for different anti-D's and a referral to the community MH people. I felt quite offended for a while but he was probably right [sigh]
Sorry I didn't answer the phone call comments yesterday, I got all in a pickle trying to explain things and gave upDecluttering, 20 mins / day Jan 2024 2/20 -
My brother has back problems, which can't seem to be resolved. Personally, I think if he went on to anti - D's his life would be a lot better. It is a true symptom but I do think the cause is related to how he is feeling and a genetic predisposition to anxiety.
ETA: DD stepped out of the house today and said, 'Oooh, it's soggy!'
Enjoy your soggy autumn mornings everyone.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0
