I've finally felt up to sorting the photos of the antique keyboard instruments I saw last week. It was absolutely thrilling because most of them we could actually play if we wanted to! Was like a child in a sweet shop!
Fantastic!
Some of these keyboards I had never heard of, let alone seen, let alone had a go on!
Italian Gregorian harpsichord, 1697! (You'd look battered, too, if you were that old! And I had a go on it!)
Lyre piano, c.1830
Double manual harpsichord 1638!
Euphonicon harp-piano c.1842
Took loads more, but will desist, apart from this, which was hanging on the wall! A serpent! That's what it's called! Apparently, it sounds like a cross between a tuba, a bassoon and a French horn! Dates from the 16th century.
I know you're away playing, JM, but hopefully you'll pop in and see these!(I just lurve spiders!)

I am not looking at pictures right now. I need to work.
I just showed DH the toy Hetty that haybel posted, thinking he would be the voice of sanity. It has now been ordered!
(I did just resist the soft Hetty for now. I know we won't be able to wait until xmas anyway).:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
Forgot to post this one too:

Wow! Very much the bling of their day no doubt. Imagine the neighbours' faces when they came to a soiree and saw one of those extravaganzas in the drawing room. Or the music room.
There's a pretty impressive clock in Eastgate Market Gloucester too, on the theme of The Tailor of Gloucester. I'm sure one you clever link finders will add information about it soon.
WaS has been quiet for a while, hopefully just asleep. She has said she lives in a big city some way from the sea, so vaguely somewhere in the Midlands. Can we form a protective geographical ring? Anyone north, east, south? I'm in the south west.Deal with things as they are, not as they should be.0 -
Good Afternoon! A big hello to Codemonkey, what a lovely thing to say, thank you.
I want the harp-piano! I love harp music and I love piano music, how perfect! Plus it is beautiful.
Thank for all the lovely pics and well wishes, they mean so much and I have been lurking hourly, I just couldn't post. I think I am a little better, although the paranoia is still bad.
I don;t expect anyone to do anything about this, it is because I am not well right now. But I had convinced mnyself that I was taking over the thread with my problems and being selfish to others and then wanted to post and apologise but I couldn't do that because it was still taking over the thread and making it all about me so I got stuck in a circle and kept quiet. It is NOTHING anyone here has done, you are all the most supportive friends that I have ever had. It is because my Schizophrenia is active and it makes me very paranoid and makes me hate myself a lot. Then the voices join in and confirm it. The result is that I tend to think I am not worthwhile so I isolate myself. I have been avoiding WaSp, too and sitting in the bedroom alone.
The good news is today I think I am a little better, hence I am able to post this. The paranoia is absolutely awful, it results in me feeling everything I do is selfish and cruel to others, even if I apologise the voices tell me that I am attention-seeking so I end up shutting myself off. I have made it out of the bedroom and am typing here today so that's an improvement. I am still panicking about BIL being here on Saturday and won't really be well until that has reached it's conclusion but today is a bit better and I will take what I can get.

You can always post about your own problems on your own thread. That is precisely what it is there for.
I find you very interesting and I don't care if every post is about you. (Although I'd rather you weren't suffering).
I find you interesting when you are poorly and interesting when you are better. I really like you exactly as you are at any minute of the day or night.
Post away, girl.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
Poop to the voices WaS. That's what I say to them, It was your thread first of all. Poop to them.
Kiwi liked his bath for once, big dog found it too tiring. But they leg the junior have a go at trimming kiwi and his face looks stupid. Not sure whether to try and redo a little myself, they took a lot of hair off and I won't be able to get it right, but maybe a little better.....0
