Lovely time, thank you.
(Possibly largely due to Gitdog being noticeable by his absence - I go on holiday to get away from him and will be retrieving him from kennels in the morning. Although I did feel slightly guilty when I spotted a few beaches he would have adored.)
Nothing special, just one of the Sun cheapo holidays, but I do like tramping round old houses and gardens. And am always happy when there's rivers, lakes or beaches to loiter round. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Huh, men! I told DH that I was feeling sick on the way home. No sympathy.
Pull up on the drive, and he faffs around trying to find house keys. By which time I have opened the car door and been sick on the ground. Vile.
Don't know what is wrong with me. I have had an exceptionally busy day today and I think I forgot to take my antidepressants yesterday and today (I should take them in the morning after food). I wonder if that would make me sick?
I am also spotting a bit from the coil. (But I am very pleased that I had it done. Dr said we should wait for two weeks before resuming marital duties, but I am afraid that we didn't manage three days. And we have been somewhat enthusiastic with the regularity (although still gentle on the method!).
So here I am lying on the sofa, still feeling slightly sick, but wishing you all a very good evening.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
Does git dog settle well at home after kennel stays or will he be hard(er) work over the weekend?
Today I had to pick up the parent that lives with us (RP) from the doctors ( RP couldn't drive) fir was home, ( took the end of week off after my appointment ) and we took the dogs in the car for fir to take our car and dogs home .
When we got back fir pointed out it was the first time he'd driven with kiwi without me, but kiwi had gone crazy when they left without me, wailing and carrying on.
He also gets upset if I go out with dog dog not him, or if I go out for any length of time. His whole little life I've just been at home pretty much all the time, every one else is aloud to come and go but me, lol.
I'd actually say he loves RP more than me, but that I'm 'mummy' thus I'm not meant to have an actual life besides being there for him.0 -
Gitdog will spend tomorrow sleeping to recuperate from his break. Then he will be an attention seeking little !!!!!!. But at least he's pleased to see me - mutt used to turn round and try to go back into kennels which was a tad dispiriting.
Loved your Tv watching dog photos Lir.
Hope you feel better soon Whitewing. Feeling sick is one of my least favourite illnesses. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Aw, hope you feel better, whitewing! Are you on a high dose of antidepressants? Withdrawal can you make sick so it could be that but equally could be a bug. Feel better soon!
Aww, Kiwi sounds adorable, LIR! He loves you!
Please do let us know how GitDog chooses to show you how much he missed you elsien, I don't mean to laugh but Mutt wanting to go back to the kennels did make me giggle. You have... interesting dogs!Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

hello everyone, i read the first bit of the first post and hope it is ok that i post here.
right now im just feeling alone and lost, i am quite sure that it should pass but right now it feels pretty crap.
I moved to Holland for my wonderful BF as he is dutch, he has to work away alot (we met working in germany) and anyway he is away and i had an activity planned with two work colleagues, i havent been there long and was very happy that they invited me to join them in a fun 5k run today, i thought that i was finally starting to make friends aside from the friends of BF.
However now they have both cancelled, BF is away and I just feel like a very alone person in a world a long way from home.
All my friends are back in the UK (dont let myself call it home as i have left there) and I have no one to turn to for some distraction and a hug. No furry friends either.
Just kind of needed to tell someone how i feel. I know logically that it is a small thing but it feels so much bigger and right now overwelming.0 -
Hi jojo baby.
Of course its ok. Welcome.
I've been in your position. Firstly, in many places there are branches of something called something like the federation of English speaking women. Now, while the Dutch often have great English and I believe strongly in cultural integration, having some other outlets for company, when you join, then Returning the favour when you are an old hand at it.. These women include country natives and English speaking women from all over the world living in that place.
Can you look for something like that?
Next, what's the partners' culture like with your husband's employer? Where I was it was very good, my husband's boss met me for coffee a few times, give me some hints.
Getting links with regular shops, using bakers, butchers, green grocers makes little day to day connections that supermarkets don't and the shop keepers become friendly. If they don't after about two months, try different ones!0 -
