Hahahahahahahaha! I used to the speak that way as did all of my family. I taught myself a far more general London accent but I can still do it perfectly when I want to.

I think you mean in the public house, not the telephone!
Telephone is that on which you call up your wife, to tell her you'll be late home, on account of going to Walthamstow* to bet £25 on the dog races.

Evening all. (I sound like a police person!)

Just back from a few days in a caravan in sunny Norfolk. Norfolk, you may or may not be surprised to hear, lacks 3G almost in its entirety. Which I suppose has the bonus of forcing me to be unplugged for 5 days. And the downside of 693 emails, mainly spam, to plough through now I'm back online again.
Glad to see everyone is still in one piece, albeit a few bumped, bruised or snotty one pieces. And WaS is doing spectacularly well to keep going through all sorts of scary experiences.
And on the subject of books, may I throw Robin Hobb into the mix? More fantasy than sci fi, but I do like my dragons.
