That's really interesting, LIR and I didn't know you had geese. I used to feed a couple who had been together for years and the male would take food from my hand and let me cuddle him. Amusingly WaSp is scared of them and oddly enough they seem to attack him! Do rest today, you need your energy for later in the week. Fir will love learning about peacock spiders, they are fascinating little things, about the size of money spiders.
Thank you, Pyxis! I am recording the film!
I cleaned a window successfully, dusted and sorted out my heap of medication! Now I have collapsed in a heap. I have a pile of clothes to sort out and WaSp will do the rest.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

Our geese are rescues from end of season at a children's zoo. They are both tame, and both boys, so fairly useless. We had a girl for a short while, but no longer. Tbh, the boys fought so badly over her its just as well.
Geese are normally fairly defensive. Even our get feisty in spring.0 -
How sweet that you rescued them! I used to love hand-feeding the male (the female was more nervous) but he really used to grab and I couldn't put a bag down or he would dive for it. I fed them for over 3 years several times a week and they recognised me and would come running up to me. At the same pond there was a pair of swans and I fed their signet one year by hand. I never realised that they had such sharp beaks, it totally sliced into my palm!Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

Hahahaha they did indeed! They make me laugh when they stand tall and pull their wings back and out and look tough. The male did that to me at first but I told him to stop being silly and won him over with food. That is usually the point where WaSp runs.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

Took DD to the park today and was dozing in the sunshine, when I became aware of someone really close. I opened my eyes and there was the most gorgeous brown-eyed, curly haired little toddler boy about a centimetre from my face. We have seen him in the park before and he is fascinated by me for some reason. DD was good playing with him, and still doesn't like sharing her toys or her mummy. (When we were at home later I heard her asking her daddy what 'jealous' meant!)
I came home and had a nap. I can't seem to manage without a Sunday afternoon sleep these days!
DS has come up trumps and is letting me have his old i phone. When I phoned up the mobile company to ask them to send me a new sim, they offered to reduce me monthly payment by £5 a month. I was really impressed with their service as I am still in contract and would have been tied in. (Well done, orange, a bit of free publicity for you).
We ended up watching loads of spider clips this morning, getting more and more gruesome. DD is a terror with you tube as she selects by the picture and is very interested in anything weird. I hope she doesn't have nightmares.
I was reading a news article the other day, and ended up having to show her the 'man with the upside down head'. He is an inspirational speaker. Obviously DD had never seen anything like him before but she mostly took it in her stride, like children tend to. She did say it was a bit scary at first though. She wants to be a doctor when she grows up, after she has been in the police force!:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
