Oooh, good idea JM! I shall text him now and he can pick some up on his way here. I don't actually think I could have eaten it all anyway, I had half a teaspoonful and wow, that's sweet!Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

Well done WaS. Did WaSp remember to include licking the spoon and scraping the bowl on his list of instructions, as that is one of the perks of being chief baker?
And to add to the list of culinary disasters, there are my world famous garlic biscuits. Which should have been ginger but I didn't check the label first - and I don't even have poor memory as an excuse.:o
Fairy cakes. You may have inspired me to finally use the cake cases I bought weeks ago.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
Hahahahaha, oh dear elsien, I can't quite imagine the taste of garlic biscuits. They must have been interesting?
Interesting that you should mention fairy cakes. Are cupcakes fairy cakes with icing on top? I am sure I used the same recipe to make them when I was a child. This could be a memory problem though.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

No, or I share the memory problem. Cupcakes are fairy cakes that have been within a mile of a marketing consultant
I can't believe the prices they sell for! (And they usually look beautiful but have far too much icing on even for me!)

I thought that they were! I can remember using exactly the same recipe for fairy cakes which I did used to ice sometimes and called them iced fairy cakes. How sneaky!Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

Sounds like you would be a wonderful person to test WaS' recipe booklet before I hand it to my daughter!:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
Are mint fondants what we used to call peppermint creams?
You can apparently freeze leftover glace icing. (Which makes sense as my aunt freezes iced cakes):heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
I am not sure, they might be the same thing. They sound yummy anyway!
My cupcakes (posh fairy cakes) now have sprinkles on top. WaSp needs to hurry up or who knows what I will add to them next?Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

yes - I knew there was another name for them! (Another thing which sells for much more than you can make it for).
Oooo and that's just reminded me for some reason. Another thing you can do with leftover icing is to mix it with dessicated coconut (which is an ingredient which is much cheaper to buy in Indian shops) and make ummm I can't remember what it's called, but is a thingCoconut something.

Those coconut pyramids things? (Although I am sure there is another name for coconut pyramids). I don't like them but they were popular at school fetes.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them.
