That actually sounds really yummy. I have two packets of icing sugar so I figure the worse that can happen is I end up with a pan full of icing where I keep trying to get the consistency right. I was taught how to make icing when I was 8 at school so I really will kick myself if I mess it up. What am I supposed when they are iced? WaSp's instructions stop there! Do they sit on the side, in a tin or in the fridge to set? You can see how often I bake anything...

Now that isn't a bad idea at all. I am sure that other people could benefit from extremely detailed instructions. I never even thought of that. If these turn out as successfully as I hope I will try to bake something else with similar instructions and start collecting recipes presented my or rather WaSp's way.

They wouldn't hurt on the side until WaSp comes back. In a tin would probably be slightly better to keep flies off, unless WaSp is likely to pick the tin up and shake it without realising there is anything in it, or you forget them because they're out of sight.

Mine wouldn't last long enough to go in the fridge.

(I'd by the recipe booklet for when my DD is learning to cook independently).

Aw, That is even more reason to make one! I suppose it could also be very useful to children, especially if I included some easy to cook meals in there, too.

On the side it is. I am quite likely to forget I made them if I put them away. He will be here by 11.30 so not long and I am sure that they won't last long. I want one now with the smell wafting over in my direction!

I did it. I really managed to bake alone and nothing bad happened!

  • Ok! I have to follow the rules and if that's a rule I must do it!

I shall have to wait a while as WaSp has put in huge letters "THE CAKES WILL BE HOT! DO NOT PICK UP OR EAT THE CAKES FOR AN HOUR!" It's a good job he mentioned that really as I could just see myself thinking oooh cake! as I drift past the kitchen and picking one straight up...

  • WaS, well done with your cupcakes! What an achievement! I have never baked anything in my life, so you have done really well! Have a little celebration with WaSp when he returns. He will be proud of you xx

  • Aww, thank you! I am allowing myself to be a little proud, the last time I baked something 8 years ago I completely forgot to use anything to get the cake out of the oven and picked up the tin with my hand. It put me off for a while! Even if I don't bake for another 8 years at least I have proved to myself that with a helpful list that I can.

I know I am not going to cope with the white posting safeguards without transgressing.

I've been worrying about this post all night because I thought it sounded sad :kisses3: Just a reminder - all the suggestions and recommendations on this thread, including those about penguins, are there to make life easier and better, not more difficult! :rotfl: If anyone makes mistakes *breaks into song mode*

And we'll all [STRIKE]forgive[/STRIKE] wrong word! There is nothing to forgive. bear with...each other and support each other, won't we? :A:A:A:A:A

Lovely to wake up to fresh cakes baking! Another brilliant achievement, WaS! :D (And WaSP! I've tried writing instructions like this, and it's REALLY difficult!)

  • Errr, does anyone want any icing? The inevitable happened and it was too dry so I added a splash of water which made it too wet and repeat several times. I now have 12 very iced cupcakes and a quarter of a jug of icing! I am toying with the idea of making it into fondants, failing that I will just have to make the sacrifice of eating it all...

We will, JM! If anyone doesn't follow the penguin procedure then we will all understand, none of us are perfect. I can't emphasise this enough as the first one to forget is probably going to be me...

Get WaSP to buy some peppermint flavouring, and make mint fondants..... :D It will keep for several days. It will go dry, but just add (a LITTLE bit) more water :D

Now I MUST go to work!
