FIR chose you, LIR.
I didn't tell DH about my mh issues before we married, partly because I thought I was normal but not dealing with normality as well as other people did.
I think DH 'could do better' and I sometimes worry about what he is sacrificing on behalf of me (a proper career and more travelling for starters). He simply sees it all as swings and roundabouts as no one is perfect. He also tends to think that things are what they are and doesn't waste time by over-analysing.
I did generously tell him that he could marry again after me. (I meant it but I also didn't mean it). He said he'd rather have a basic shepherd's hut and live on his own. That was more worrying to me!
I still don't understand the phrase 'lucky to be alive' in terms of a human's view about themselves.

Lir, perhaps he's planning to cash you in to medical science - his cunning plan to patent the weirder bits of you and make a fortune.
Seriously though, any cost to him is one he's chosen to take and stick with. Because he wants to.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Stand up comics as well. When they say "have you ever" and wait in fear and trepidation for the laughter reaction in case it's not a societal norm and they do indeed have some very unusual habits. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

WaS, you did not kill Richard Attenborough. (Just in case your thoughts were drifting, but hopefully they aren't):heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -

Aw, thank you for thinking of me. So far there isn't a lot of psychosis, just some wondering what I was doing at lunchtime when he died and guilt that I wasn't aware of it. I don't quite know how I expect myself to be aware when someone I have never met dies, but there is a feeling that if I know that someone exists that somehow I am involved and should be able to do something for them or at least recognise their time of passing and feel grief. That sounded more delusional than I thought it would...Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

We can spot my husband's depression coming on now (really i mean getting worse, because he is never completely free from it). He gets aggressive and angry about everyday things, such as not being able to park, or having to wait in a queue. He gets desperate and angry over large things outside his control such as the Middle East crisis and obsesses over them (he's not watching news at the moment so as not to trigger this). He gets irritated with me when I try to calm him down and says I'm complacent and have my head in the sand.
Possible PENGUIN AHEAD : this is sometimes difficult for me to deal with and I have to get myself some space, however I normally manage to remain calm. He always is sorry when he realises how he has been. PENGUIN OVER.
And he gets, busy, busy, busy, sometimes to the point of exhaustion.
We have lived with this for a long, long time and are now pretty good at minimising the effects and hopefully warding off the worst of it.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Morning everyone!
And now for something completely different. An article from CNN about some traditional crafts in China

Another Crotch Biting Penguin post
This is a great article about a teenager in America with bipolar and psychosis. There is a short video, which includes footage of the teenager's scars on his arms from cutting, and also some a background video of him in the midst of a psychotic attack (his mother gives presentations to local law enforcement about what it is like to live with a mentally ill person).
There is also a long, wordy article underneath. Very well worth reading for people who won't be triggered by it.

You will get used to empty. When I started dehoarding, empty made me feel awful. Now I love it.
I've never been a hoarder but I love empty too, everything always looks tidy plus easier & so much less to clean
