Oh, no, its not a rogue trader. Its a big restoration project. We cannot afford to do it all in one go. The back door we couldn't do at the time be cause we DID have a rogue trader! the heating provider! and we took him to court and got a judgement against him ( very long story short) but we couldn't put a door on becUse the unit would not fit out of the house if we did.

It went out this spring, and we didn't need a door through summer, :) so now we have a door, and ordered some bolts etc this week. So just have to find a local builder to make a frame and fit it now. ( our builder is not at all local so we don't ask him for little jobs unless we can get a day's worth or more).

We're also trying to find a roofer. Its amazing ly hard. No one wants to do it. :(. We really just want to patch up for now because we have PP to extend and go into the attic, including putting a dormer window, so even if we could afford it, it would be silly to do a re roof now, knowing we'll have to mess with it in the future. Roofers just don't call back or quote say they'll come and then don't. :(

Our kitchen is in the done bit, but has a temporary kitchen in it, cobbled together. New fridge and cooker ( but the cooker was a bad buy, I don't get on with it at all) but no sink! And I have very little traditional kitchen furniture, one pine cupboard with sort of is, and a butchers block, then also a nother big cupboard, a chest of drawers and an alter! I love my temporary kitchen, I'd like a floor, but otherwise I can cope with it for a decade or two.
  • Oh that brings back memories LiR. As a child, we tried to fit 3 generations into one house, for six months. The kitchen was allocated to Gran & Grandad. We had the hallway with a couple of cupboards, the old coal store for the cooker, and the bathroom for water. We washed up in the bathroom handbasin for 11 years.
We were fine and got used to juggling bathroom & "kitchen" use, all six of us. Just think of some parts of the world where even having an indoor tap would be complete luxury.

WaS - I had a lightbulb moment. I keep reading how lack of sunshine/vitamin D causes or at least affects auto-immune diseases which can be linked to depression which can make it difficult to get outside ....

I have been thinking on your behalf of how you could get some sunshine, while not being seen. A Roman villa round a courtyard would seem to fit the bill! But on a smaller scale, a camper van! OK, I don't know how you could borrow/hire one, but just think - a camper van with the curtains drawn and the sunroof open!!! Or indeed any vehicle with an open sunroof, with the windows covered in some way. Parked in the middle of a large empty car park, the top of a multi storey one, probably easier to find than a field as you live in a city. In some places, you could park on a beach or lakeside. If there was no one around, you could open the door a crack and put a toe on the sand........ :)
Deal with things as they are, not as they should be.

If religion weren't such a trigger for you, I would suggest a retreat like this:

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/activityandadventure/8308763/Eight-of-the-best-retreats-in-Britain-and-Europe.html

Some of them have the option of a solitary retreat (which I guess you could do with WaSp, having explained the situation).

There are also various homes offering respite care for schizophrenics.

The only reason I suggest these things is that a change of scenery can do everybody good (by everybody I mean humans, this is is no way suggesting that you and WaSp need a break from each other, or that your current situation is not right for you at the moment).

Prompted by all the feet/shoe discussions recently, yesterday lunchtime I got my DH to cover my work for me while I went out for a walk. I had been reading about barefoot walking and the temptation to take my shoes off in the sunshine proved overwhelming. It was wonderful, I even found a stream that flowed over a path. I also got very lost and ended up on private land. I had to climb over a barbed wire fence to get out of a field of cows. So two hours later, I was back at work with tingling legs. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and found that barefoot I could tackle slopes that I wouldn't have tried in my shoes. I felt very connected to the world. I think textures are one of my favourite things and being barefoot, I had to notice where I was stepping - there was such a range of textures on the paths below different trees. In America, they even have parks that are set up for barefoot walking.

I've just got back, I went to the charity knitting meeting straight after.
I have to carry on with the sleep diary for another 4 weeks, he's reluctant to prescribe anything yet with all the other meds but if there's no improvement even if it's only back to my usual 3 or 4 hours he will.
If I'm not asleep within an hour I have to get up and do something.
He said he can still see improvements from the increased ADs and is happy with that for now.

Gosh. Well, four weeks then. You're doing really well coping Dibuzz.

The thing is, I think that a referral to a sleep clinic or something might also be worth asking about maybe? Even if he gives pills next time? Longer term solutions need to be considered. You are coping so incredibly.

It was suggested that the Thread Etiquette be posted every 10 pages or so, as information for any lurkers. I have done so here, but if people feel anything different is required, e.g. posted less often or whatever, just let me know!

    ......................................... ......................................... ..................

Ok, ref. post #2000, here is the suggested THREAD ETIQUETTE. By following this etiquette, all posters, whether new or existing, will feel safe, unpressured and respected.

    - This is a thread for support. We have discovered some good friends on here, but we promise always to welcome and include new people, and not to be cliquey.

    - People may make suggestions to help each other, and might even ask if the suggestions were helpful or have been carried out, but we'll really try not to nag each other or put too much pressure on.

    - The normal board rules about sexism, racism, homophobia etc. apply, but if we are careful we should be able to discuss almost anything without breaching board rules - so far we have discussed subjects ranging from child abuse to incontinence!

-If someone thinks that too much pressure is being applied, they can post the trigger word PENGUIN and flag up the fact that they believe there's a potential for someone feeling too nagged to do something. ANYONE could post PENGUIN if they felt there was a danger that suggestions were being enforced too much.

    ......................................... ......................................... ............

    - More suggestions please.............We stress that we are suggesting that we AGREE some Thread Etiquette to HELP people who might feel anxious about posting, we are not trying to IMPOSE rules, just relating this to facilitating groups, so that people feel safe and able to participate as fully as they can., whether new or existing, will feel safe, unpressured and respected..

    dibuzz,

I guess another 4 weeks will give an idea if a pattern starts emerging. It may also mean that if you do get referred, they can bump you up the list a bit.

Have you have a date yet for your counselling?
