Aw, thank you haybel, huge hugs back to you. It wasn't a decision I took lightly at all but when it started to make me ill I had no other choice. I am nervous enough about being around people as it is without him being so unpredictable and likely violent.
A doctors visit might be a good idea, you have exhausted yourself physically and mentally lately. In the meantime rest as much as you can, lots of cuddles with your babies are in order.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

A visit to the doc sounds like a good idea haybel.

Another thing that helps, again counter-intuitively, is doing cryptic crosswords. I love doing them, but in bed, again, they make me fall asleep. You'd think the brain-work would keep me awake! If you try that, use a retractable biro, and keep it clicked off except when you are writing, otherwise when you fall asleep, it marks the sheets!

We went for a lovely meal last with DH's family so I am feeling stuffed this morning.
I have put some washing in and done a bit of tidying up and then I will sneak back to bed. I find doing light housework is my best cure for insomnia. It requires hardly any brain power but also means that I get ahead of myself so I can get up a little later than I normally would.
haybel and LIR - doctors' appointments and report back!
Took DD to the park yesterday afternoon. Just by chance, we found they had a fun day on (hadn't seen it advertised, and my friends who live backing on to the park didn't know either). So DD had about an hour and a half on the bouncy castle. Then she went into the athletics arena and did the long jump (although she didn't actually get the idea of running and jumping), the javelin (with foam javelins!) and running on the running tracks. She loved the starter block thingies to put your feet on. She ran about 700 m in total. I was so impressed with her as she was the youngest child doing all these things. In the sprint she did, the other people were 8-12 years older than her so she was miles behind everyone else but she stuck with it.
We didn't do things like this when I was a child. I didn't learn to swim until I was about 8 and then only because my school had a swimming pool. I was about the only child who couldn't swim at that stage and I felt very ashamed. I love going out with DD now because it has made me realise that a lot of things that I was embarrassed about at school were simply because I didn't get the same opportunities for socialising and playing that other children did (although in fairness we did do some things that other children didn't, and we did play too when we weren't working in the family business). None of us did sporting activities.
It struck me yesterday that if you see children running around and playing and you feel confident in yourself, you can't help yourself, you just want to join in. I am so tempted myself sometimes but my weight is making that a problem at the moment. I think I want to have elements of my childhood that I didn't have before!
DD is able to do many more things than she could do at the start of the summer, in terms of climbing etc. She still isn't so good at using her arms for pulling herself up. I don't know how to encourage that, she is aware that she should be. There are children the same age as her who can climb higher. (Not that it is a competition anyway).

dibuzz, are you still doing your (lack of sleep) diary? Is it at a point yet where you could discuss it with your doctor?:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Oh, join in, whitewing. It's loads of fun! When I used to look after my friends little boy I would take him to the play park very early in the mornings because it took a long time before he didn't find other children over-stimulating. I used to climb up the slopes, hang on the monkey bars and get on the toy train with him He absolutely loved it! He had never seen an adult do these things before and I had never had a chance as a child so I loved it, too. I looked forward to our 7am playtimes as much as he did!
Hanging in there dibuzz, please tell your doctor everything on Thursday, I know you can get through this. Big hugs.
Big hugs or a warm handshake to you too, MU. You have done so well with coping, it's totally understandable that you feel shaky right now. We are all here for you if you need it, you aren't alone. I will be keeping you in my thoughts between now and Tuesday.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

The Cupboard of Doom is done! I did it! I have one shelf with useful things like paperwork and 5 empty ones!
Next step Boxes of Untold Mystery lurking under the bed! They haven't been unpacked since we moved here 6 and a half years ago so in theory there should be very little that I want to keep. If I do find useful things I have room in the CoD. I honestly can't even think of what could be in them so why are there are 5 of them?Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

I did have a go in the skateboard park on the scooter and I now have a bruised knee and swollen finger. The children make it look so easy. Fortunately there was only DD and I there at the time. She thought it was hilarious. She took her play mobile phone and all the way home 'phoned' every member of our family to tell them.
I also played chase with her but have no stamina so hopefully by next summer I will be fitter!
I feel good though, despite the injuries.
And came back to a tidy house (think DH felt guilty for not coming).
MU, our thoughts are with you. Be kind to yourself and I hope all goes well at the doctors for you and for dibuzz and anyone else with an upcoming appointment.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them.
