I shall try to do a colour chart of feelings, I have always dreamed in colour other then once, I always remembered it because it is so rare.
There are many jokes about secret attack blinds heading in WaSp's direction, he maybe sulking a bit.
So glad to hear from you MU, I was hoping that you check in (although you are never obligated to). I am so sorry to hear about the panic attack, considering what I just went through you have my total sympathy. They're horrid!
Very few people who have met me over the years other than medical professionals have known about my mental health. I can bluff it for a while and seem just like everyone else, luckily and just like you I hate feeling people know when I am vulnerable. It sounds like you coped with it well, though so congratulate yourself for that. Try to have a calm few days, too work allowing. I know that it can take a while to recover from that degree of anxiety.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

MU, just bear in mind that although your area manager saw you at a bad moment, they also saw you battling through and carrying on with your shift, which has to be a positive amongst all the difficult feelings?
I'm off now to spot space stations (or not) then will be awol for a few days visiting a luddite relative with no internet access. So I'll see all you nice people when I get back.
In the meantime, tell WaSp it could be a lot worse. (Cute dog and blinds - think pugliet on a rampage except he's probably far too well behaved.)

Is it your own feelings you see in colour, WaS, or other people's? Does it frighten you or is it just an extra twist on the situation? Does it help you know how others or you are feeling? Do your inanimate objects prompt the same colours? How does it happen? Is it the whole of your mind's eye as a blurry colour or do colours tint a scene? Does it happen all the time or strong feelings?
I did see a documentary on it once for music mainly, but can't remember much about it.
That would make a good, short factual children's book too. At this rate, we'll have a whole library for my daughter to look at when she's a bit older!:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. I see my own feelings in colours, but also if someone says how they feel, a colour will flash into mind to accompany the word. It works in the same way that if someone the word elephant you would see an elephant in your mind? If someone says to me they are excited for example I see a bright block of red, slightly sparkly. If someone is sad I see swirling grey mist, if someone is happy I see orangey yellow, glinting like the sun in a ball shape.
I have images to accompany most sounds, feelings and thoughts and I used to think everyone did until a therapist asked what happened in my mind when she said certain words. She then told me that I am highly visual and that people imagine all sorts of things in relation to others. For example, some people see numbers for words, I can't get my head around that. Others associate smells. There are several different ways that individuals imagine things.
I have always wanted to write a children's books. I used to write stories for the little boy I looked after.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

So, if you read this thread and I said I was happy, would you see orangey yellow, or is it when you hear it?
Do the voices prompt the colours?:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
Just as I read the word happy, your post developed an orangey golden edging, so yes it works with writing, too!
The voices can do but mostly their words are a mass of black with white/blue spikes like icicles coming from them that look like blades. Very dark and very cold and totally unwelcoming.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

So if you had a prompt sheet of happy feelings to read when the voices got bad, would that help? Or would it taint the happy words?:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. I can sometimes change my mood by looking at appropriate positive colours. A lot of people see red as anger but I don't, to me red is excitement and the colour of life so looking at that can help my mood. If I want to get to the bottom of my emotions pale pink works, I see it as vulnerability and sensitivity. Green is relaxation and peace and healing are blue. White is positive defence oddly enough so useful protection, I have no idea why. Oh, and an even odder one, the word family when referring to a close and happy family is lilac flowers bursting into bloom. I really don't know why that happens.
I haven't actually tried a prompt sheet of words for when the voices are bad (bad is brown and black swirling around each other) but it is certainly worth a try, thank you for that!Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France

I'd love to see things in colour! Obviously the bad things are negative but it must be nice to have such vivid colourful views of more pleasant things
I like the idea of having a prompt sheet, it might help
thank you WaS and elsientrying to see the positives, hopefully those i work with can see them too

I really thought everyone did until I was 19 years old and I was told otherwise! I had no idea that people's imaginations interpreted things in different ways at all. Even when taking exams and remembering text I would see the page in my mind and read off of it with all the colours swirling around it. It was a huge shock to realise that there were different ways! Some people hear music for words and feelings, I am quite envious of them.Until one has loved an animal a part of one's soul remains unawakened - Anatole France
