Ok, don't whether to laugh or cry (I am opting for laughing). It seems my way of giving personalities to things has now been reclassified from a quirk to a recognised condition.

"For some people, in addition to numbers and other ordinal sequences, objects are sometimes imbued with a sense of personality. Recent research has begun to show that alphanumeric personification co-varies with other forms of synesthesia, and is consistent and automatic, as required to be considered a form of synesthesia.

Funnily enough I do see numbers in my head in colours and 3D patterns which is another symptom of the same condition.

A "condition"? I thought it was having a vivid imagination. However, I guess like everything else, it's a spectrum on which everybody sits. If it seriously affects one's life, I suppose it could be classed as a condition. In your case, WaS, you acknowledge that your feelings for things can sometimes be a problem, but you acknowledge that, and also you have worked out the reason why.

Your willingness to deal with the Cupboard of Doom and the Cushion of Great Anxiety prove that you are able to control it and are trying to overcome it, and succeeding, if I may say so!(How are CoD and CoGA doing, by the way?)

I actually envy people who 'see' music as colours. I am only at the point on the spectrum where some things have a colour, like days of the week, but I'd love to 'see' music! Some people can taste colour, I believe, or is it music they can taste? I forget!

Think of it more as an ensuite (en-tent?) shower - you could have had a wash there and then instead of having to head over to the shower block.

    .

Someone did say to me, this morning on my way back from the shower, that I might as well just have stripped off outside the tent and let the rain do the task!

That would have caused quite a splash on the campsite!

JM, I had half-expected you guys to create some kind of rainfall orchestra with rain dripping onto bin lids and bottles half full of water.

  • I couldn't help but giggle, whitewing. I have been teasing him about murderous blinds that creep up behind you ever since.

Hahahahaha so did I, Pyxis! I just thought I was creative and sensitive and I am sticking with that! I don't want a new psychiatric condition thank you very much!

Don't get washed away, JM! I have visions of you all playing in field now with instruments gurgling as they fill with water! Any dressing up in costumes this time around?

    Handel's Water Music?

    Mendelssohn's Fingal's Cave Overture?

    Debussy's La Mer?

You're in good company then, according to wikepedia. Duke Ellington, David Hockney, Franz Liszt, Vladimir Nabakov, amongst others, Lots of other musicians and composers. I'm with Pyxis, being able to see music as colours (which is one of the forms it can take) would be fantastic.

Edit - MSE is being a PITA again tonight and doesn't want me to post!

  • Oooh, yay! I am up there with the creative people! I would love to see music as colours. I do see musical notes sometimes as I listen but that is more to do with the fact that I am so visual, even feelings have different colours to me.

Do us a colour chart to show us how you see feelings. I don't see colours, although I do dream in colour.

Don't forget to look out for the supermoon tonight (esp JM on the top of her hill)
