One of my clients called me last summer during an emergency and I had to go out with a facemask and a hair mask on.

Then call the vet out and she had a friend with her. It was just one of those days. :)

    Priceless LiR :j

I have a photo of when I was in India, had henna put on my hair, then was told to go and sit in the sun for it to dry. Because I have long hair they'd twirled up on top of my head, in a green mass, so I bore a remarkable resemblance to a coconut.

I am using shop bought creamed coconut which is the ground up flesh of young coconuts, you can make it yourself by grating green coconut. It is solid similar to a block of lard or butter I cut it up and mix 1/3 pack with boiled water and keep stirring and adding a bit more water till it like a thick batter mix. It needs using straight away or it solidifies. It has a high coconut oil content and I know coconut oil is an excellent moisturiser. Could just use coconut oil for skin, I'm trying to use stuff I've got up!

There are several articles on the web promoting the use of coconut oil both by consuming a couple of tablespoons a day and by using it in a similar way as a hair mask the way I am for scalp psoriasis. I haven't sited them as they were forums rather than official research. My sister has terrible itchy scalp and she swears by coconut oil to stop the itching.

hd has tried most things that are 'rumoured' to help. Apart from giving up shampoo and harsh chemicals, keeping sun exposure up ( which won't help WaS not much has. Stress flares are very apparent.

He has a very high stress and long hours job and finds it hard to get the short time needed to get to hospital for light treatment. We're considering getting a light treatment unit for home use. This is no small investment, but, we are lucky with no dependants and a reasonable income we can prioritise spends to do without some things and make this possible. Even then, he won't be able to use it three times a week for the requisite period of time, but twice,( he is here for weekends, the treatments need a day inbetween) we are hoping a dermatologist can suggest a programme based on this kind of basis that might work.

Another interesting article, dating back to 2001. (I expect WaS has already seen it).

Rosehips are good for rehydration and rheumatoid arthritis, according to this article:

Please don't make the mistake DH did and try using rosehip unprocessed, When I came home I thought about telling him off, but knew he'd feel I'll enough later, :(. The seeds are poisonous raw.

    http://edition.cnn.com/2009/HEALTH/04/24/autism.horse.mongolia/index.html

This book and its follow up describes how a young boy's autistic problems were greatly improved by horse riding.

Apparently the rocking motion of horseriding improves the levels of cuddle hormone (oxytocin).

I was thinking, WaS, that maybe a rocking chair would be of benefit to you. We got one once from freecycle, although we have passed it on now. This site lists some of the benefits

    http://www.amoils.com/health-blog/10-robust-reasons-to-rock-that-chair/

which are more than I had imagined.

Partly this idea came up as I was wondering about how your day is structured, and whether your daily/weekly life could be improved by getting more routines/habits into place. I find routines really help me, but strict timetabling doesn't. So, for example, I don't necessarily get up at the same time each morning, but I would always start the laundry, have a shower, get dressed, make the bed etc.
