  • I haven't made a phone call for over 3 years and haven't used Skype for over 5. If I can manage this it will be a small miracle. I honestly couldn't manage more than 10 minutes at the most, electronic devices looking at me is a huge trigger. I know that it would mean the world to my friend though as she realises how hard it is for me, I have to try...

Good luck with the skyping, WaS!

By the way, just thought I'd mention that I'm going on holiday tomorrow, to Italy, just for a week, and won't be taking my iPad. As I haven't yet upgraded my phone to a smart, that means I'll be offline until I get back. Just wanted to let you know why I won't be posting for a few days!

    I'll have a good catch-up when I get back!

  • Have a wonderful holiday Pyxis! Do you realise what a kind and supportive thing you just did for me by telling me?

I know it's daft but if people I have been talking to suddenly disappear even on a forum I immediately think that I have done something wrong and upset them. This makes me sound incredibly needy and I know people have other things to do but it doesn't stop me interpreting it that way and presuming that they no longer wish to speak with me because I am bad, boring and horrible. So thank you for that, it was exactly the right thing to tell me.

Did I mention I am mad as a box of frogs?

I have the same sort of feelings WaS, I always wonder what I've done wrong.

    Enjoy your holiday Pyxis

  • I am so glad that it isn't just me, dibuzz although I am sorry you go through it too. In all of the years I have used the internet no one has actually cut me off without an explanation and you would think that would give me confidence? No, of course it doesn't. People disappear for a while and I sit here picking over all of my posts looking for where I might have offended someone and rifling through my CBT sheets trying to reassure myself.

I am just the same in real life too, it's ridiculous. At times I have drifted away from friendships because I am scared the person is drifting from me, so I leave first. I really do need to stop doing it because not only does it hurt me it possibly hurts the person I move away from too.

Well, yes, I can feel 'ignored' on threads too! It is so silly, isn't it! And yes, the first conclusion I jump to is that they don't want to speak to me any more! So you're not needy! And even if you were, it's only because you didn't get enough mental 'strokes', while growing up, to fill your 'worthiness' bucket!

Anyway, I like frogs! I've got them in the garden! Not in a box, though! In a box, out of a box, frogs are nice!

See you in a few days!

Me too with the thread killing.

How has your skype call gone, WaS?

    Do you need some turquoise?

I'm still here, by the way! You'll have seen from my signature that I'm a very active match bettor (complicated!) I do lots of my bets in bookie shops (gulp! - but it's VERY profitable) so I'm generally not around much on Saturdays. Plus it's the World Cup (had you heard?) and Wimbledon's about to start, and there was a very big horse festival at Ascot this week....... So please don't feel ignored!

By the way I know virtually nothing about sport - I just know how to make money out of it! :D

I 'adopted' two more pugs this afternoon, while I was out, as well - I know at least two friends who want one! One of them is a special needs pug as somehow he has some green plastic (like silly string but harder) attached to his fur. I made the shop reduce the price, so that one was only 50p! (MSE through and through.........)

Wish little SNP (special needs pug) luck for his op later this evening!

Still planning the Skyping! My friend is going for a birthday breakfast first which consists of strawberry and cream pancakes, hash browns, maple syrup pancakes with ice cream and fries! That is just breakfast, americans know how to do things in style! I wouldn't move for the rest of the day after that.

Funny you should mention matched betting. I tried to follow it once and got so lost it was untrue. I would quite like another try when I have spare money one day, not that I have ever made a bet in my life but it might pass the time and as long as I don't end up penniless its worth a go. When I looked at it before it was complicated and I believed I couldn't understand maths. There is a story behind that (isn't there always?)

I missed an awful lot of schooling due to caring for my parents and although I read everything I could get my hands on so my english education didn't suffer I rarely looked at maths. It took me 4 attempts to pass my Maths O Level and no one could work out why (as I was advanced in other subjects) so I was classed as having Dyscaculia.

Years later I was telling my friend how I couldn't understand maths at all and she suddenly asked if I had ever been taught the basics as I wouldn't be able to understand further without that? She offered to teach me and went right back to adding and subtraction. I slowly realised that I had never been taught the techniques to use (I didn't even know that there were techniques) and very quickly learnt adding, subtraction, multiplication and long division within 2 weeks with no problems at all! I am perfectly capable of maths and learn quickly, I do not have a learning disability and the label is entirely wrong. I simply missed the times when it was taught. I am mildly annoyed that the people who should have known presumed I had a disability, because I believed that I never even tried for over 20 years.

I am far more confident now so as I said perhaps when I finally have money again matched betting might be fun (in very small bets).

Good luck little pug! I wish we had a pound shop near here now, I would be buying them too!

Skyping in 15 minutes, the duct tape is still over the webcam...
