It was a thread from the arms that prompted that! What random act of kindness have you been on the receiving end of?
For a week I had had a Sainsbury's petrol voucher for 12p off a litre. That's the biggest discount I've ever had, so I worked out that if I left using it until the very day it expired, I would have an almost empty tank and so would get the maximum benefit from the voucher. The expiry was yesterday, and I planned to use it on my way home from attending a day seminar about 70 miles away.
When I was at the seminar, I realised that I had left my purse at home. I had the voucher, and my credit card, but not the nectar card that has to be proffered at the same time; that was in the purse! So, all the way home I was cursing that I would either have to go home, collect the nectar card and then drive out again, to retrace my steps to the garage, a 14mile round trip, or lose the voucher. I then worked out that the money I would save would be eroded by the petrol etc. used to go and redeem the voucher, and as I was pretty tired, I decided I'd have to leave it. I felt very fed up!
Today, I went to Sainsbury's to get some shopping for a friend who'd recently had surgery. At the checkout, the lady in front of me finished unloading her stuff onto the conveyor belt, and then turned to me and asked if I had a nectar card. When I said 'yes', she said I could use it to get her points, as she did not have a nectar card. Obviously, I was very pleased at this gesture, and after checking with the cashier that it was ok to do this, her points went on my card.
The lady then paid the cashier, and was given her receipts. She turned to me and said I could have 'this', as she couldn't use it, due to not having a nectar card. 'This' was........... A voucher for 12p off a litre of fuel, valid until the end of next week!
How cool is that!
Also, if I hadn't been doing my friend a favour, I wouldn't have been in Sainsbury's today!
You give it out....you get it back!
Like oldestgnome, I have occasionally bought say, a chocolate bar when I've been shopping, and given it as a surprise to someone outside, maybe a Big Issue seller, but sometimes to random people! Their reaction is priceless! One old lady said I'd made her day!
So it does come around, maybe not straight away, and maybe not in material things, but it does!(I just lurve spiders!)

I have been sharing golden syrup cake with Max. He has been doing his this is heaven face.
He is so cute sometimes if he is not convinced something is all gone he will keep nudging me until I show him my open hands. It always makes my Mum laugh when she has him as he will insist on checking that he is not being tricked and that it has indeed all gone.Make £10 a day challenge November £125.60/310

Glad to hear the sleep fairy visited last night. I've been awake for an hour trying to motivate myself to get up.
We had our closing party for the guys last night, and I found out I'm meant to be at our branch office this afternoon for the fond farewells. Only problem is, my boss never got round to telling me about it and I'm now double booked. Can't wait for it all to be over.
On a positive note, some people who didn't have to have said some very nice things about how I've run the place, which has boosted my some what flagging self confidence. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Gosh, I'm sorry I cannot keep up ATM. Its not a thread I want to just dip in , quickly.
I'm just about to cut the grass before it gets too hot, and need to do that very quickly, because to add more complication this week we have our wonderful builders here today fixing some stuff for us that went wrong week before last, and a guy who we were on the waiting list for to lay a path for us told us yesterday we are now top at the list and he starts some time today! Woohoo...but also, what crazy kind of timing.
I'm barely awake most of the time, just sleep walking through the day, and getting a bit tetchy and panicky because I feel quite behind. I like to be very well organised and prepared in advance and I feel far from it ATM!
A whole shelf cleared? OMG WaS, well done!
Dibuzz, that's some sleep, better than none!0 -
Yes, it is REALLY difficult to keep up, isn't it? Three quick things
1. Oooo - delighted you've ordered the headphones, WaS. DH says he thinks you won't be disappointed. (Tell Pugliet to eat the toast quicker, before your DH sees!)
2. Dibuzz - that's fab! I hope your body will carry on taking as much rest as it needs
3. Good luck for today, elsien!
4. (I can't count) RAOK - someone knocked on the door and asked if I had lost something. It was my purse........with over £1000 in it..........(He wouldn't even take a reward! I was sooooo shocked that I'd lost it without even noticing!)Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0 -
Good morning all, you have been busy. I am pleased you ordered the headphones, WaS, what a bargain.
How about another shelf today? As you made such remarkable progress yesterday.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
Max sounds like a fab companion Haybel
Wow that was lucky JM.
Hugs to Elsien ((()))
That's great dibuzz. Sleep fairy didn't visit me last night!
WaS, are the headphones a surprise? Looking forward to hearing about what is leaving the cupboard of doom today.
LiR, hope the lawn cutting and builders get their bits done. Remember to be kind to yourself, sending hugs
Definitely a deserved voucher Pyxis. What a lovely thing to happen.
Did you get the laptop back white wing, maybe a tablet for your birthday?0
