Another random thought, have you ever tried massage to help with relaxation? Not the full on body massage, but a hand massage, or depending on your tolerances, my personal favourite at the moment, a facial?
I used to think they were for "ladies that lunched" as a way of filling in time, till I tried one on a Groupon deal and I'm now sold. Wonderfully relaxing and the sort of thing that people can come to the house to do.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.
  • I haven't! That could be worth a try especially if I don't have to go somewhere. I think I could do with one today for my aching muscles. I shall have a look for some masseurs advertised (excluding the ones advertised on cards in phone boxes because they are little too generous with their experience).

When my DS was small, I used to get him to walk up and down my back while I lay face down on the carpet. That was a great free massage. Can't do it with DD, she would flop down unexpectedlly out of a sense of fun.

(I don't think you should go out and grab a small child WaS. This was for the benefit of aching mums who may be reading).

  • Go to phone box and find a dodgy masseur card. Pick up a random small child on the way home.

    Ok! got it!

Bunnies and bucket and spades, what a picture :)

How about ginger and lemon tea, you can steep the ginger and lemon juice and drink hot or allow it to cool and have with ice in this weather it's delicious. Add sugar, honey or sweetener to personal taste.

Elsien, a tough time for you, we are all here for any venting or support.

You can also do your own facial with household ingredients a bit like the brown sugar scalp scrub. Maybe something else you can do to feel good and look after yourself. How's the hair brushing going?

Dibuzz, waking up can be a pain too, have you tried making sure your temperature is comfortable (not so easy in this humidity), body scan relaxation (think this was mentioned before), switch the mind off with creative solutions for whatever is worrying you (strongly imagine the issue has been resolved), used an eye mask if it's light or do something else like read for a while to distract you then relax.

You forgot, sleep with your psychiatrist

Oh dear, hope this doesn't impact your next psychotic episode.

While we are in a joke cracking mode - it's better than not waking up.

(My DS used to quote from a film, not sure which one, or it may have been a PS3 game: any day above ground is a good one).

Waking up isn't a problem when you haven't been to sleep ;)
I tried to have a nap this afternoon but gave up after 2 hours and mowed the front lawn instead. The good bit was that I am so tired I didn't notice people going past, that's when the social anxiety usually kicks in but I was ok today.

It is rather warm in my room and I often have to close the window because some new neighbours at the back are very loud and often have arguments at 3 am outside

I don't think I'd like my kids walking on my back, the boys are all over 6 foot and my daughter isn't much smaller.

  • How could I forget?! Sleeping with my psychiatrist is the best bit! I don't have to look at him, do I?

If this influences my next psychotic episode I am kind of looking forward to it!
