Happy birthday Gingernutty and 7DW! Have a great day
I love camping, 4 times a year like clockwork - but I go, uh, action camping. In a garage sized real canvas tent. With unusual outfits.
..........OK, I'm a LARPer
Had a very unusual set of dreams last night and am feeling a bit unsettled this morning. However, I had a good clear-out of the kitchen last night, must have recycled over 200 carrier bags this morning!
Possible penguin reply:
WaS, I am so glad it's not just me that has a tendency to anthropomorphise objects! Apparently Mum had a dreadful time with me as a kid over it - what eventually worked was to think of the objects having a good snooze in the bin after working so hard. I try to block it out now as it conflicts with me trying to declutter. Thank you for posting that!
I did throw out an old rusty wok and saucepan last night. Couldn't stop thinking of the earlier posts about the frying pan! I had a little giggle, is that wrong? *worries*

Today I will - get at least some of this work to-do list done. Find at least one more job to apply for. Go to gym.
Today I will not - bang head on desk. Cry. Eat my own body-weight in biscuits.0 -

Gingernutty and Sevendayweekend
Happy Birthday :bdaycake::bdaycake:
Tealover
Hope you have a better day - virtual hug and positive vibes.
I can get rid of things once I get myself in the mind set of a clear out but have more trouble when it is books.
Most stuff is "stuff" but books are "friends" .
I had intended to Kondo the drawers in the bedroom, have drawer dividers ready and everything but can't get started. I think because everything got put on one side while DH was very ill, even though he is recovering well and I have time to tackle it now, it seems a much bigger task than it really is.
Might put music on this afternoon, go up there and just make a start of even 15 minutes or could take stuff downstairs and sort down there."This site is addictive!"

How exciting! What era are you in? Do tell more!
I love watching people do that!
It's not as era-related as re-enactment, I play in a high fantasy system and my faction are based on Celts(Have a look - our system is www.curiouspastimes.co.uk and I play as part of the Fir Cruthen!)
My character is a warrior and a knight, this will be my third year of playing her. My last character "died" 2 hours after I started playing her as there was a monster attack on our camp and everyone forgot I was there :rotfl:
Tea - be kind to yourself today

So very true! Books are definitely friends!

Heartbreakstar, I've just had a look at your link. Gosh! It looks very interesting! I've never heard of it before! I don't really understand it all yet....will have to read up on it.
Don't people get hurt during the 'battles', and who play the 'monsters'?
How long has it been going for? It looks very complicated!
I think WaS might be interested in it!(I just lurve spiders!)

It's amazing, Pyxis. Basically for 4 weekends a year, I don't have to be me
I like to think of it as acting without lines!
You can choose to be non-combatant, a lot of alchemists and ritualists do not take part in the big battles (though everyone is at risk from camp attacks. If you can't be hit at all, you just fall over when a monster comes near you). The weapons are foam with a fibreglass (I think!) core, and we are taught to fight with "pulled blows" so people don't get hurt. It IS physical - one person's pulled blow is another's wallop - but generally each faction has people who can teach you about how to fight.
There's loads of stuff to do alongside fighting as well - magic, alchemy, druidism (my faction has DOZENS of gods!), diplomacy, scouting, etc etc
Regarding monsters, each faction has 2-3 "monster slots" during the weekend, where you dress in basic kit and play the monsters for other camps' encounters. Same with the battles - there's a big battle on both Sunday and Monday (bank holiday) of the large events and if you aren't playing then you monster
There's some great vids on here:
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCp7FgSxILtYePCwsZy191CQ
that show you a bit more of the hobby. The faction-specific ones have people talking about playing too. I'm wandering around on some of them...
