I have finally with no thanks to Barclaycard who charged over £3000 interest during the period, finished my DMP with Payplan. Waiting confirmation from them but as far as I can work it out, it is done. Thanks for all the help and laughs on this thread and other earlier ones. I also agree DMP's if done with a sensible amount going out each month are the way to get through debt. My advice don't struggle to pay them off quickly by skinting on the amount you leave yourself to live a life. It is after all a long haul and for a successful one you do need to be able to live and do some enjoyable things. Good luck to everyone. I intend to continue to read these threads.
That is wonderful news! Congratulations GibbsRule No3 :j
I can't wait to be debt free and make a post like yours, now I wonder who will be next ..........

Hello Lovely People,
Just looking for a bit of advice. I received two letters this morning from RMA Resolve for 2 catalogue debts. I have emailed them back (won't phone) and have given them my SC details and told them to correspond with them directly.
I have only just made my first payment to SC (monies won't be distributed until 25th) and a DCA has already been in touch. Is this normal?LBM 2 June 20140 -

I don't know about being normal but I certainly don't think it is anything to be worried about. I have found all the DCA's I have dealt with to be fine and they haven't given me any grief.DMP Mutual Support Thread No. 421

I just found it strange that they didn't default me first?
I've emailed the letters to SC and see what they say.
Saturday post seems to be for defaults and creditor nonsense only.LBM 2 June 20140 -
Finally sent account data to Stepchange, wavering between prospect of having a more liveable budget on DMP and guilt at not continuing to live on next to nothing to service those debts. Rollercoaster emotions and not even started yet :shocked:Finally Debt Free (£8k to zero) yay! :j :j

I don't know, sorry. You will have to wait until our wiser friends HH and her twin TTFTM come along for a more sensible answer;)DMP Mutual Support Thread No. 421

Perfectly normal! If it was 3 or 4 months of struggling it's doable for some but any more is just punishment and I suspect you have/are punishing yourself enough. Debt does not make you a bad person, it simply signifies a combination of unfortunate choices and an unexpected change of circumstances for most.
In an odd way the roller coaster emotions are a good thing. It's usually the end of months or years of constantly living on a knife edge and it's just your mind breaking you in slowly to the new life ahead. I think I'd have gone into shock without those feelings! It also means that you are taking it seriously so celebrate the roller coaster.
And as per the other previous post Saturday does seem to be a rubbish day for post. I usually don't open mine until Monday (there's nothing I can do at the weekend) but I did today and got another stampy feet threatening letter from HSBC, this time about the credit card. My opinion is actually getting lower of them! 4 months to start making these threats? Just get on and do it! I've already asked them to but they seem insistent on sending these long rambling letters about what they may do and berating me for the situation. Once again all a bit ridiculous as this is happening now that the debt is reducing and they're not making money out of me!

just a bit of an update from me again ...
- secure in the employed world and have passed my probation period at work 2 months early meaning I have stability for the first time in years (will never do the self employment thing again thank you very much!)
- family circumstances changed with DS1 and DS2 both having their girlfriends live with us now (with one LO on the way as well) so flat is bursting at the seams and noisy and extra expensive but we are managing with some tight budgeting going on
- revised offer of payments being made to all creditors - in the process of getting ready for a F&F offer to Wonga to get that off my hit list.
- feeling of security and able to sleep at nights knowing that I am in control of the situation - to all those starting out and feeling 'wobbly' - hang in there. it does get immeasurably better when you take back control from these sharks (sorry creditors) but that's what most of them act like.

Well thats it for me.
Originally started my Payplan DMP in mid-2006 for £71,671.10.
Last night I settled the final account (all done directly with my creditors) and in the last week I cleared the last £27,698.92 for an average of 41%
Was expecting to feel a little more excited than this - but as it has been so long since I had the sleepless nights and ignoring the phone whenever it rang, perhaps I have forgotten exactly how bad it was and how good it will be from now on!
Good luck to everyone else in the DFW quests.0
