Turns out I forgot to budget in my DMP payment for this month, complete rookie mistake and now I have virtually no money to last me the month. I have the £100 I'd put back for the car's cambelt which is now going to have to be used, as well as going down to the bare minimum in expenditure until the next payday.
Kicking myself on this one, I thought I had about £300 more than I actually did! What a monumental ****-up that was!
On the plus side I contacted HMRC yesterday to see if I qualified for a rebate - bittersweet result with that, I'm due a rebate of about £120 but it's going g to take them about 2 weeks to send the calculations and cheque to me. So in theory if I can live on a shoestring for the next few weeks until payday, I'll be able to replace the cambelt fund with the rebate money.
I'm still learning, it seems
I did a similar thing this month. We are all still learning - I think the moment we stop is called death .....
Try not to beat yourself up - this month is a battle not won as well as you might have liked but you are winning the war... or something!!Debt at highest - June 2013 - 26k/ March 2018 - 2500
Proud to be dealing with my debts0 -
I sort of did it too Pies
still, 15 days until payday and we're all another day closer to debt freedom
Actually had a fab bonus here! Went to put my loose change in the pot and discovered I had FIVE pound coins instead of threefeels like a small lottery win! Going to blow half my "bonus" on raffle tickets at slimming world tonight (wasn't planning to go but I need some cheering up after a very mediocre day at work and as I'm within 3 lb of my target it's a free night out with friends) and save the rest.
Working from home tomorrow so it'll easily be a better day and I have 2 days of "live" Tour de France recorded and some mountain stages this weekend to occupy me - who needs money?

Monkeyballs wrote: »Hi all,
Just on the off chance that some of you perhaps don't wander too far from this thread I thought I should point out that there are a few "dubious" threads and comments on other DFW threads which seem to be extolling the virtues of fee charging debt management companies...
If you do happen to see any then don't be fooled, nobody is going to be able to arrange anything different or better for you than your free provider and by using a bit of elbow grease
Remember that a newbie saying "I saved loadsa money by using *insert website minus www so it's not a link here* so paying a fee was a good thing!" is probably spam and no better than cold callingbe warned, be smart (which I know you all are anyway).

Saw that last night. Was definitely spam as the website was dodgy as hell and not a legit company.Still rolling rolling rolling......<
