I think I may have put the cart before the horse, she was possibly going to come into some money. It is still coming, and he wants it now.

I have so much frustration for Aqua!!!!

They are either intentionally unorganised, careless and rude or have really flawed systems. I have been on a DMP for about six months, they have known about it from the start and yet still keep calling me with the same questions - why are you not paying your full balance?! I would understand that they put additional pressure with the DMP in mind (i.e. we know you are on a DMP, pay us more or else) but they seem to be oblivious to it every time until I bring it up and they say "oh yeah, we see".

I have also requested to communicate exlusively in writing and keep doing so every time they call - and yet they keep calling and calling. No regard whatsoever, no respect and still a very high interest rate on a £250 debt. All of my other creditors (for larger debts) have reviewed the DMP, accepted it, I am keeping up with my payments and am never hearing from them. It's only Aqua which keep up the harassment...

    Oooh, that was a vent!!
I am sure you've had / are having the same experiences, so you will forgive me for this piece of meaningless ramble...

I rang payplan today to ask if I could defer my first payment to September and they said yes of course no problem! Thanks all for giving me the courage I needed to do I .. Not sure what I was so worried about now!

Santander did tell me on the phone that after the 30 day period they would start contacting me for payment (I am sending token payments in until Dmp starts) and that they may pass to dca but that's a good thing isn't it?

If they contact me for payments do I just say that I have sent a token payment and that the Dmp payment will be made in September? Is they're anything else I should be doing?

Santander have frozen interest for me since been in dmp (12 months) and have defaulted me on one account but not passed to DCA. I just keep saying that they are getting payments and to deal with DMP company. They have been fine. Just tell them what the plan is.

Well done. you are on your way :)

Have you made a complaint in writing about the interest and followed it up with the FOS? If not, please do this and let me know if you need a template letter.

Vent all you like, we have all been there and we are here for the support now :)

  • Hi all hope everyone is doing good today
Had my latest call with payplan today seemed to go well. Ran through all my creditors and budget and feeling a bit less frantic now. Hoping to have everything in place ready for first payment on the 1st august.
Need to phone and pay a few token payments tomorrow and just waiting on paperwork for my new safe bank account.

Still all doesn't feel quite real as creditors that I have spoken to have all Been ok thus far. But is this the quiet before the storm?

Does everyone think I'm right to start the plan so quickly? Have agreed I can pay £234 per month to creditors outwith budget and that feels manageable. Just dreading that creditors will say no to reduced payments.

Thanks for reading if you got this far :)

    Hi Skinny,

Sounding good so far, I'd expect a little thunder and lightening at the start but it'll quickly turn to drizzle and then dry up to a little drip (like the aqua saga posted above). We all seem to have one or two that give us a bit of trouble, either not accepting DMP or loading interest or just downright rude like a certain catalogue group.

I think the amount you pay per month is not as critical as the length of time you are going for, e.g. If you are on an 11 month plan, the chances of needing a big emergency fund are a lot less than if it's going to a 6 year plan... So have a look at your life, all the things you dread are going to happen, car needs new tyres/boiler blows up/washing machine explodes, & if you don't have the dosh to at least part pay for these things then IMO you probably need a month or two at token payments before you start. I have found it a difficult adjustment after a life on credit cards to think about how I would manage without them (but I can, I am doing, and my goodness I'm glad I finally figured it out:T).

    Hola,

    Rant away m'dear :)

I have a sneaking suspicion that the right people don't know...

Why not call them and ask to speak to their collections department? It could be that the people you are speaking to have your name pop up (or more accurately you'll be the next person the system calls and they speak to) and they'll be adding notes to their view - or in other words, the notes they see.

It could be that the communication of your DMP and reference never hit the correct dept. and a quick call might solve this and hopefully knock the interest on the head! They're likely also the only people who can actually stop the calls too...

Just a guess obviously but why not take the fight to them eh? ;)

    Good luck!

    Hi TJ,

Hurrah! That's called teamwork ;) Go team!!!

As for Santander, sounds reasonable enough as they'll likely be more lenient to those actually in a DMP so by making token payments you're probably going to get one of those mythical early bank defaults!!! So yeah, good thing I reckon but don't forget to post if anything unexpected crops up :)

I can't think of anything else you should be doing... Having another cuppa perhaps?
