Happy almost anniversary Gaztop26
Just wanted to say good stuff is rolling my way
Having a not great day but thought I'd check my bank as it couldn't make me more miserable (and might actually cheer me up as the 43p I was expecting to see would be a credit and all mine) turns out that because of the Irish bank holiday on Monday the tax credits have gone in early :T so there's £33 in there and it's all MINE*
Massively improved my mood AND I "only" gained 1lb at fat club last night after 2 weeks - 1 week of eating, drinking and being merry with BFF visiting and 1 week of a comfort eating filled pity partyAND I finish work at 3.30 for the weekend AND all my bills are paid.
happy happy happy

You need to start fighting this with Lloyds ASAP, I would suggest using the complaint about interest template letter, just let me know if you can't find it and I will post it for you. Give them time to respond to this, then go to the FOS if you don't get the answer you want.
Lloyds are not easy to deal with and they do not pass to DCAs quickly, I have recently had a default well over 2 years into a DMP and it's still inhouse with Lloyds

Thanks TTFTM, I spoke with them today, asking why they had not responded to my letter, ah 'you sent it to wrong address' - obviously don't believe in internal mail then! - anyway no real useful outcome so thank you for your advice and I will find template and send them the letter(s). The interest gets reduces through the term so I guess that is front loaded. Seems like will be a long one - funny how different 'arms' of lloyds work differently.
Cheers

I was all set by the end of the day, I had my weekend planned around watching very muscly men cycle over mountains, a few hours studying and a trip to the park if the rain holds off but now I've discovered that tax credits have gone in early. Still going to do all the above but safe in the knowledge that I can get petrol over the weekend and I'll survive the weekend on next to nothing because I choose to
As you say it's's certainly a very different mindset to the one you lovely people helped me through a few months ago. Don't know where I'd be without you all

I do have debt with Marbles (or whatever they call themselves this week) and like you they have never defaulted me, though they did stop interest very early on and have stuck with that.
I have started to fight some of the none/late defaulted accounts as each has been paid off but am not getting very far, it annoys the hell out of me but I suppose I can live with it as we don't want credit again. However I think it's very unfair on someone who wants a mortgage etc in the future.
Good luck in getting this sorted Lizzy.

Hi TTFTM
CAN I PICK YOUR BRAINS A BIT - I'm about to start my DMP with SC. we have our mortgage with Barclays and also most if my debts. If I start the DMP will this effect my mortgage? Would they take it away from us ( its all up to date)? And how long would the DMP stop getting a mortgage if we needed to move ever? Finally, all the debts are in my name and so would the DMP be - would this I pact on my husband at all?
Sorry to ask so many questions - I know this is the right thing to do but an terrified that I'm going to mess things up for our whole family - which I've done already but don't want to make things worse by doing this.
Thanks in advance

Hi All,
Haven't been on for quite a while but thought i'd have a quick look and say to all those thinking about starting a DMP, DO IT! It may seem that being debt free is light years away but the longer you put it off the worse your debt will become. Most creditors leave you alone as long as you make your agreed payments. The first couple of months you get a lot of letters but they all die down. I used stepchange and they were brilliant especially when it came to making all my F&F payments. Don't put it off as it is life changing, relieves stress and makes you happier all round.
And this thread has always been friendly and useful.
Hi Gaztop
Thanks for that at and about 18 months in I agree and I'd tell anyone to expect a few hiccups at the start, but once its going...mostly no troubles....
Its lovely to hear those that made it through to the otherside, really keeps us long termers going.
Gaztop if you are still about and don't mind me asking, just wondered what tips you had for accumulating funds to go F&F ?
Have a good day everyone
MB you are bonkers (smiles) and as I've had a sheltered life I didn't get the dog bit (rofl)

I have finally with no thanks to Barclaycard who charged over £3000 interest during the period, finished my DMP with Payplan. Waiting confirmation from them but as far as I can work it out, it is done. Thanks for all the help and laughs on this thread and other earlier ones. I also agree DMP's if done with a sensible amount going out each month are the way to get through debt. My advice don't struggle to pay them off quickly by skinting on the amount you leave yourself to live a life. It is after all a long haul and for a successful one you do need to be able to live and do some enjoyable things. Good luck to everyone. I intend to continue to read these threads.Paddle No 21 :wave:0 -

The DMP should not affect your current mortgage in any way. However the effect of the DMP on your credit record could possibly cause you problems with getting another mortgage for several years - it's difficult to say exactly how long because it depends on the timing of defaults.
A default stays on your credit record for 6 years but if a creditor decides not to default you and instead uses an arrangement to pay marker, these can remain for much longer and do more harm. Lots of people here try and fight to get the default early, so get it over with and gone in 6 years.
Regarding your husband, are you financially linked in any way e.g. mortgage in joint names, joint bank account etc? If so, it will affect him too.
When are you due to start your DMP? have you left a couple of months to pay token payments and allow yourself to build up an emergency fund and practice your budget? If so, this may also encourage early defaults, some people on the forum advocate stretching this out to several months and going full on for the default, I know if I had my time over again I would do this, as 29 months in and only 3 debts to go, we still have accounts that were never defaulted.
This must all seem terrifying at the moment, trust me I know, I was there in January 2012, but ask yourself is there any other solution, any other way out of your debt? A DMP can be difficult but it is a real route out of debt when there truly seems like there is no way out. We will help and support you, people here did that for me, they do it every day and the ones who receive that support pay it back. That's what this thread is all about, mutual support, if we all hold hands we are stronger.
