    Well thats it for me.

Originally started my Payplan DMP in mid-2006 for £71,671.10.

Last night I settled the final account (all done directly with my creditors) and in the last week I cleared the last £27,698.92 for an average of 41%

Was expecting to feel a little more excited than this - but as it has been so long since I had the sleepless nights and ignoring the phone whenever it rang, perhaps I have forgotten exactly how bad it was and how good it will be from now on!

Good luck to everyone else in the DFW quests.

Wow Westminster thats Brill news, your F&F's are great value too, I think you are still in shock and when you have don't have that large monthly payment exiting your account next paycheck, I think it might start to sink in a bit more :D

Finally sent account data to Stepchange, wavering between prospect of having a more liveable budget on DMP and guilt at not continuing to live on next to nothing to service those debts. Rollercoaster emotions and not even started yet

    Hi Igaveup

My advice, inject a healthy dose of realism into your budget, your name suggests maybe you tried this before perhaps?

A liveable budget over the long term might still give you the option to save a little towards F&F's but giving you a 'flex' if you need it in DMPdom.

Good luck & come back for help if you feel that wobble starting again

    Hello Lovely People,

Just looking for a bit of advice. I received two letters this morning from RMA Resolve for 2 catalogue debts. I have emailed them back (won't phone) and have given them my SC details and told them to correspond with them directly.

I have only just made my first payment to SC (monies won't be distributed until 25th) and a DCA has already been in touch. Is this normal?

Perhaps they are just treating you as a serious DMPer, someone who is going to pay but over the long-term. Wouldn't be overly concerned.

Had a while when I stuck my head in the sand again but trying to get motivated again

One upside, I have stopped smoking (on the e cig) but still better and am re decorating the whole house thanks to a fabulous recycling paint place I found. If anyone in west Norfolk or cambs want info, let me know. Insure if I can post links

  • Happy Sunday all :)

Had a bit of a mental breakthrough today. Not really sure how or why but all of a sudden the future seems brighter and possible without the debt hanging around my neck.

I'm usually quite positive but crossing the £5k paid mark didn't really hit me until today. I know my life has been ruled by this stupid leg injury for so long but I managed to get out on a bike yesterday! Was only 10 minutes and I'm paying for it today but that tiny step has helped me mentally so much. Just a few months ago I was in a terrible place where I thought I'd never walk properly again and I'd never be rid of my millstone of debt. Now the light has broken through. I'm seriously considering changing the job that bores and stresses me, I'm mobile again and my debt is in hand.

Whatever the trigger was I'm pleased. DH and I are talking about a trip away (WITHOUT KIDS!!!) to watch the Tour of Britain in September, our marriage is in a much better place and we've even discussed moving house in a couple of years. Today he mentioned a dishwasher and the DFW in me went to town! Think of the cost! Running it, repairing it, the fact that I have to already hound the family to wash up - how will rinsing dishes and loading a machine be different? Actually surprised myself with the vigour of my arguments!

I think it's really hit me just how hard life has been and for how long. On top of that the changes I've made and the new attitude I have. I'm not proud to have gotten into the situation but I am proud that I'm working my way out of it.

Great news on the breakthrough, re the dishwasher, I think DH was trying to help :j but I do take your point, I hate washing the dishes and there is only me to nag at, I'd be terrible with a machine, it'd never get emptied

I've had a dishwasher for 10 years and it's been used precisely 20 times.......Christmas and Easter. I read how much water and electricity it sucked up

Bit too big to flog on ebay.

  • We've lived in this house 2 years and 5 months. I can count on one hand the number of times DH has done the dishes and it only happened last night because he was given a choice of that or the small children's bedtime routine! That's not to say it's all me - teens do it all week and I do the weekends when they're not here but as the eldest is now 16 and we've never had one I don't see any point! The washing machine, tumble dryer (def and essential in a household of 6 in the winter) and fridge freezer are all over 7 years old. I "compromised" and said we'd revisit the subject when they've all been replaced but they won't be replaced until they give up on us. He's debt free (completed and IVA) and I can think of so much more the money could go towards. Told him to save it for now as our current white goods may get jealous of any newcomer and go on strike :D

Monday again and not looking forward to the day. Have to have a very awkward and slightly personal conversation at work today on what is actually a team building day :( but I'm off tomorrow to recover so my first official week of full time is only 4 days :)

AND of course, we're all one day closer to debt freedom. Keep plugging away everyone
