I accidentally ran over a pigeon on Sunday (tried to drive around it but it was pigeon or oncoming traffic) big puff of feathers and maniacal laugh from 5 year old followed by "it probably deserved it". She now denies all knowledge of the incident.

    Evening/Morning all

Quick question....now that some of my debts have moved to DCA's, and I no longer get statements? how often is it reasonable to call them for a balance check? I'd like to do it once a month but feel like I'm alerting myself to them instead of keeping my usual low profile?

I would let sleeping dogs lie.

In my case, every year after I had completed my annual Income & Expenditure with PayPlan, PayPlan would send the details to Halifax`s DCA (Blair Oliver & Scott) and BOS would then write to me agreeing the new amount and with a debt breakdown.

That way each year I could check what was due !.

    Hi Sazzie,

On this occasion I disagree with Antonic, but I'm being a bit of a control freak LOL

I contacted them each month for the first three months to make sure it was going down and the totals were in line with what my statements were showing so as to avoid any nasty surprises.

After the first three months I've been contacting them every other month by email (no point wasting money on a phone call) for an updated balance :)

As mentioned above I'm a bit of a control freak watching them going down which is good for me because in the past I've had this weird control freak thing about knowing balances even if they are going up!

Contacting them fairly regularly has led to a couple of nice surprises as on more than one occasion balances have been a bit less (I.e. maybe a tenner) than the DMP statement for some reason and it's been nice to update my balances but am keeping their emails as evidence for later ;)
