Checked my Noddle report and the first of my 3 defaulted CC has been removed !.

This was my Cahoot CC, defaulted May 2008 and removed (automatically !) for my July report.

Only two more to go (HBOS and Capital One) both defaulted Dec 2008, so they should be removed by Feb 15 report.

After Feb 15, I will pay the required £2 to check the other 2 CRA to ensure all 3 have been removed.

Oh and the one thing that really does make me laugh is ......
when I had 3 defaulted accounts my Noddle rating was 3/5 ...............

After being DF for over a year, and 1 defaulted account removed from my history , my Noddle rating is ...................... 1/5

    Go figure !:)

A bit of an update. Well, could not make the full payment for our DMP last month as things went a bit awry. But, we are back on track and I was able to make a few payments and pay off one creditor. I have managed to lower some of the bills and I am now saving those up to pay off a creditor in November. In fact, two will be paid off then and two more in February! And we have extra money left over in the bank with all the bills paid off.

On a side note, we were given tickets to go to Legoland from Merlins Magic Wand. My son is autistic and this is a charity that grants wishes to disabled children. So, we can do something nice for his birthday next month. I am so grateful and he is very excited.

It is so hard to tell him we do not have money for certain things. I want to take him on some holidays, but I know we cannot do it until we are out of the mess. And the cowboy builder who messed us over and put us in this position in the first place? I have managed to make contact with another person he did the same thing and we went together to Trading Standards and making complaints to Companies House, Watchdog and for fraud. It will not get the money back, but we may get some justice!

Wow you have been a busy Alyx fantastic news on the trading standards thing, will we be seeing you on one of those 'catch the bodgit' tv shows soon?

Good news about legoland, I wonder if there are any other charities or funds which might help you pay for a few days away by the sea? I come across quite a few folk with disabilities in my job and some of them seem to have access to quite a few funds, so it might be worth asking? Remember you are not asking for yourself, and when you are debt free (as you are well on the road to) you might be able to pay back the favour!

Scuse me asking, but are you self managed, you seem to have the debt busting thing licked!

Hi to everyone, and have a great day.

Yeah great news Anatonic, about the defaults .... Credit rating, nah doesn't really mean anything anyway does it ? Mine was probably 4/5 the day before I hit the DMP, yours will rebuild if you take out credit...but do you want it?

Madness with credit score isn't it?!

They are required by law to remove defaults after 6 years so it's just them doing what they should. :)

  • Hi all
Please be gentle I've had my lightbulb moment and am now facing up to my debts.
I spoke with pay plan yesterday and have decided to proceed with a dmp with them they have told me an advisor will be in touch in 2 working days can anyone advise me of what happens next or how long it should take to get it in place?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi and welcome skinny-on-the-inside :hello:

You have already had some great advice so just wanted to say hello and hope you stick around for any advice, help or support you need.

Well done on that LBM, getting to that stage really is the biggest step!

  • As TTFTM has said, great advice already Skinny - on - the - inside :)

My advice is take it as it comes. I rushed into starting ASAP and then had an problem in month 2 and could only afford half my DMP payment :( if I'd deferred for a couple of months I'd have been okay so I'd strongly recommend this. I'm back on track now but it was very disheartening and extremely tempting to stray. I'm in this for the long haul and very determined to reduce the 6 years 7 months my plan is scheduled for but if it takes the full amount of time so be it. I have one eye on the end goal and another firmly in the present making the most of what I have.

A DMP totally changes your life and I'm yet to see anyone say it's a negative change. For a start, just look at the wonderful online friends I've found on this thread. My DFD may be years off but I feel like I'm celebrating success almost every week with these lovely people and I'm genuinely happy for them when they reach a milestone as I believe they are/will be for me.

In true TdF analogy; We may not be the fastest to finish each stage but overall we will be successful and every single one of us that completes the course is amazing. (Yeah, sorry folks, you're going to be getting cycling references for the next 3 weeks but it's a nice break from the broken leg comparisons - if you'll excuse the pun! ;))

Thanks Jubilee. The last 6 months have been one hell of a ride and I wasn't always sure we'd make it through together but this is just one of the positives of being a DFW. We're stronger and happier than ever now. Marriage is bloody hard work at times and I'm a little bit proud that we didn't let debt break us.

I have downloaded myself an app tonight called debt manager, it has all of our debts listed and the amount per month that payplan have offered to each debt the each month it automatically updates with the new balance

Thanks tayajade will def give it a go - roll on Sept when SC payments actually start. Although we're doing the sensible thing getting straight beforehand it is frustrating - chomping at the bit' to get started:)

Hi Skinny and quite agree Kate marriage is bloody hard work but it is so true 'what doesn't break you makes you stronger' :) enjoy the TdF (I'm waiting to watch Wimbledon final):D and ttftm well done :j fantastic and inspirational post - it just goes to show how we nearly all start with the same scared/exhilarated mindset - but it can and does all work out well.

.....and I'm off to Centre Court :)
