ebay unpaid item case opened against me

Lol you only have to read the threads on here and the ebay boards to know that ebay reps give out not only wrong info but info that clearly breaks ebays rules and if followed can get you banned.
My guess is you will accept the strike thinking you can easily get it removed.
Until you try to get it removed that is!!!
Also did you tell ebay that you will not pay unless seller contacts you first?
Because the impression i get from that chat is your accusing the seller of not selling.I have not yet paid for the item, as I with to contact them.andThanks - I really just want the item, but I would like to contact the seller and see whether I can collect it, as I am practically driving past their door, so postage would be less convenient and a waste of money.I also said that I could not contact the seller:I have messaged the seller three times.I think that is quite plainly saying that I want to contact the seller before paying - don't you?
I then requested their contact details and phoned the number, but I got a recorded message saying they no longer use that number.
I apparently have no means of contacting them.0 -
OP if you did get a reply and they said no to collection, would you be willing to pay the £15.00 postage costs ?0

You are probably on far more peoples ignore list than those you have blocked, I hope you aren't in need of any advice regarding ebay or anything else anytime soon.
As to the probablilities of who is/isn't, I don't know.0 -
Well that sounds like perfectly common sense to me.
1) Post a thread on MSE asking how to post comments on an unpaid item case.
2) Receive advice that the only action you can take on the case is to pay for the item or wait for it to be closed. The majority of people on the thread disagree with the way that you have acted and advise you that the best option is to pay for the item as per the contractual agreement you formed when placing your bid.
3) Post conversation with eBay rep and ignore advice that eBay reps have a history of advising incorrectly, and in some circumstances wrong advice from eBay rep has even resulted in eBay account bans.
4) One or two forum users agree with you, so you take heed of everything they say, then proceed to ignore and even block the majority that don't.0 -
OP sounds like a right chancer.
I would completely block them from my items.
Im baffled that the assumption "collection" was not offered was because it may have been a mistake.
Usually its because people dont want nutters at their front door.
And in this instance i dont blame the seller one bit.
You bid and won the auction based on the fact you have to pay postage. That is indisputable.
Seller has raised a case as you have not paid - you cant take the hint.
You have bid and won to stop others winning on the off chance you can haggle afterwards.
Seller will incur ebay fees for postage not that you care.
OP has focussed on the 1% that agrees and moaned about the 99% that disagree.
OP is not MSE - OP appears to be blindly arrogant and feels like people owe them.0 -
Yesterday one of my auctions was won by somebody in the same town.
'Here we go' I thought, expect a message asking for collection .... sure enough 5 minutes later, I get a message, not asking for collection, just asking for my address and that they'll collect it tomorrow morning!
I thought of this thread immediately, the buyers assumption that it is ok to collect, without any prior discussion or agreement.
As it turned out, I was at home this morning, and I agreed to the collection. They said they'd turn up at 10am..... they've only just this minute collected the item.
Maybe the reason the buyer in this case didn't want to agree to collection was because they thought that if the buyer wasn't considerate enough to ask about collection before bidding, they wouldn't be considerate to turn up on time either!
Prowla - after all that has been said on this thread, just tell us that you've taken on board all the comments and feedback, and next time, you'll ask about collection BEFORE bidding!Early retired - 18th December 2014

I'm not haggling, just looking to avoid postage which is cost-neutral to the seller. Chancer or money-saving; your choice...
If you think that asking if something may be collected, and waiting for a reply, makes someone a nutter, then that's an interesting perspective.
Did you read my posts in forming your opinion?
Do you really think that a definition of being a "chancer" is to send someone a message saying "Hi. I would like to collect this item if that would be convenient? regards, xxxxx"? Did you see my post where I said that? If you received that message would you think that's a "nutter"?
Did you read the one where I said I would cover seller's costs (eg. if they had already packaged the item)? The seller wouldn't be out of pocket.
Did you read the one where I said that in selecting the automatic unpaid items case option to sell an item, you are automatically unable to add collection as a deliver option? It is entirely possible that the seller would be happy for collection, but the option wasn't there.
Did you read the one where I said I had attempted to contact them and had chatted with ebay to see if they could help?
Did you see the one where I said I was practically driving past the seller's house and so it would be easier for me (and the seller) if I simply picked it up?
I'm not looking to profit from the seller, merely to avoid paying the Post Office for non-required delivery.
Did you read the one where I said I was back in from collecting an item from another seller (just down the road from this one), and we had a bit of a chat and he'd offered me a couple more items he'd bought? (He didn't seem to think I was a nutter.)
And I guess you've chosen to ignore the fact that the seller is non-contactable and gives an invalid phone number; would you give your money to them?
Did you read the one where I said that the seller's case was raised automatically, and that I don't think they have received my messages? If they have left a disused phone number on their account, could it be possible that they've also left an unused email there? If they average out at one or two ebay transactions a year, could it be possible that they don't login and check messages?
Your reply was very judgemental, and rather goes against your username.0 -
OP, you are bordering on obsessive. Is it really worth this much of your time and energy?0
-
Incidentally, I'm just back in from collecting a complementary product from another ebay seller.
It turned out that they had two of them and also one of the item which is the subject of this thread.
I did a deal with the seller there and then, and bought all three for a tenner.
You seem to think we are fascinated by you!0
