Husband took the parcel for me so in the end I did manage a NSD and I realised I had one on Sunday as well, which takes my total to 10 with one more to go before the end of the month. I didn't manage to get the items on GT but did do quite a bit of research to find out how to price them. I have to have quite a spendy day today as we need some bits (milk, fruit etc) from the shops and I think the kids need new shoes. I was trying to hold on until the next twins discount day but its not until the end of Sept so we might just have to suck it up and pay full price unless I can get any canvas shoes or sale type ones, I won't hold my breath though.

Get the two items on GT and take a bag of clothes to the £4clothes thing.

What is this twins discount day? Is it at a certain shop?

  • Hi PrincessLou
If you are a member of TAMBA then you are entitled to discounts at quite a few shops. The main one I use is Clarks where I think it is a 10% discount everyday but then on certain weekends you can get 20% not just for the kids but for you as well.

    Well hello August!

We've had a wonderful weekend so far, if a little busy and spendy!

    Money Generating
I did the baby sale yesterday and made over £40 which I'm quite happy with as I only took low value items (50p kind of stuff) and the house is a little clearer! Will round up and op £50 in addition to the £60 op'd last week which was £co and $4clothes and a few other bits. I've got more things to sell via flea bay now I have my new allowance so will get on and load them today.

    Money Saving
Need to meal plan as shopping has got a little out of hand but that will have to wait until tomorrow as today is all about uni!

    1. Uni work
    2. GT items
    3. Flea bay
    4. Update signature

    Have a lovely Sunday

    Oh and 3 lovely things
    1. Reading the lakeland catalogue, so many things I didn't know I needed!
    2.Mojitos :rotfl:
    3. Someone said my kids were a credit to me :T Always nice to hear.

  • Morning all!

A few days missing as my kids have been poorly with fevers and now coughs so not much sleep happening around here! We are off camping at the weekend although the weather looks yucky! I haven't had as much focus on money in the past week so I'd like to up my concentration a little. I've been thinking about food shopping and trying to work out what's important to us as a family. There are so many confusing issues to consider: eating frugally, organic, seasonal, food miles, sugar etc that sometimes I'm not really sure what I'm doing. I've decided to focus on organic where recommended but to make sure it's as cost effective as possible and make it go as far as possible.

Things are listed on Flea bay but I'll have a quick look tonight to see if there is anything else I could get on there tomorrow to do another 10 day thing. I really enjoyed doing the sale last weekend and I am planning to do another one in October to try and sell my winter stuff. I've started to find my rhythm/routine with selling clothes, managing to still make a little even from the unsellable stuff, so I'm quite proud of myself!

The freezer is virtually empty, but I need to have a sort through the pantry/cupboard type thing as I think there are a number of meals still lurking in there.

    Have a happy hump day!

Hope the children are better now - what bad luck to be ill in the summer holidays.

I hope the camping goes well..... I find they nearly always exaggerate bad weather forecasts!

    Fingers crossed Goldiegirl!

I've not had much interest on GT for the couple of items I put on last week so I think I'll add them to Fleabay instead. My DH used the tesco vouchers for a cinema visit so we banked the saving and op'd it. Apparently we are up to £650 since June (I've missed £50 somehow!) which isn't too shabby. We should be under £150k by October which will be a big mental victory for us both.

I've done really badly with NSD this week, although today may accidentally become one! I've started using a diary in a different way and will now be logging my spending daily so I can keep track. I do think I've spent less in the past couple of months and want to check the statements so I can see if this is the case.

    Money stuff to do
    1. transfer items from GT to fleabay
    2. check statements

    Have a great Thursday

Fab weekend camping but very windy!! Now we want a camper van..eek think that might have to wait until after the extension and the mortgage!

Sold another couple of items on Fleabay and have another couple on there now which are higher value that the 99p clothes I've been selling.

I've started to keep a spending diary as I had a look at the cc statements and although I spend a similar amount each month there is quite a bit of little amounts here and there which really do add up each month that would be better on the mortgage so I'm tracking it. Managed a NSD today a little by accident but that's two in the bag for this month which isn't brill but I should be able to manage a few more this week. Going to go through the cupboards tomorrow to do an inventory as the freezer is nearly empty as is the fridge.

    To do
    1. cupboard inventory
    2. small cheap shop, milk etc
    3. jobs on my to do list from yesterday
    4. sort kids clothes out
    5. wash a bed
    6. post fleabay parcels

  • Managed to get quite a few jobs done in the past few days but it has been a little spendy. Keeping a spending diary has been really interesting and I can already see some things I can do to stop unnecessary spending, mainly being better prepared when I nip out with the kids for short trips and errands. My mum gave me some windfall apples and blackberries which the kids and I cooked into 2 apple pies, 2 lots of jam, 12 jam tarts, 1 plate jam tart and a summer fruit cake!! I've frozen quite a bit of it as we are away again at next weekend and I'm trying to keep costs down. We've had some more cash back through so another £20 op'd. After Augusts mortgage payment we should be below £150k.

Nothing much more to report. I put a couple more items on flea bay, everything has watchers so fingers crossed they might sell. I may some of the winter baby stuff on fb soon as the weather seems to have changed and people might be starting to think about winter.

I've planned our meals for the next week using up everything in the house! I'm keeping £10 for top up stuff this week and that's it! I've been running in and out of the garden trying to get washing dry in the rain! In the main I've managed it but had to use the tumble dryer last night for 30 mins or so.

  • Think I may have to break and do a bigger shop this week as we are running out of everything and have ended up with DH 'nipping' to the shops which always turns out very expensive! We'll see, maybe I can hold out!

    Money Generating

Added a couple more items to flea bay , all of the other items bar one have watchers on (16 watchers on a chocolate fountain!!!??). I've another item to put on next week but I need to do a bit of cleaning on it first.

    Money Saving

I'm sticking to the meal plan in the main but have done quite poorly on the NSD front so will try and improve next week ;)

Another £10 op'd on Friday from some cash back so up to £720 since June which isn't bad. Hopefully I'll make some more on Monday when the bidding finishes.
