one might have thought that finding information about NZ history wasn't that difficult.

Of course at that time they would have been black nations so I guess that don't count as 'real ' countries in your understanding?

You've tired of making up imaginary hatred and now you're making up imaginary racism. So it goes. :(

I just believe in our Nation.

    Why?

What makes the current borders of Scotland so special?

It is one thing to argue a cultural unity, as you could just as easily for a large county such as yorkshire, but another thing entirely to argue small countries would be better off economically, politically or competitively than big ones.
why don;t all european countries merge to become a United States of Europe and attempt to compete globally with the likes of the US and China?

    They should.

Nationalism has been responsible for more deaths in Europe than even religion, and that's saying something.
It's not about being small or an optimal size.
    It's about recognising a country.

Scotland is a country and regardless of what the population is it should be able to have full sovereignty over its future.

    Why?

What makes a country better than a union of countries?
We can look at similar sized North European Countries who fare far better than the UK i.e. Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden etc.

    That is utter bollox.

Those countries often have high costs of living, high taxes, high rates of alcoholism and suicide, etc.

    Why are they "better"?
Even looking at a country like Singapore, where it became independent from Malaysia in 1965 as an example of how a smaller nation can prosper.

I was in Singapore last month. A new car can cost 500% of the price in the UK, and house prices make London look cheap. But wages are lower than the UK, inequality is higher, and standard of living far worse for many.

How is the Singapore model better for most people?
We are capable of going on our own and determining our own future.

Yes of course we are. That's a straw man argument.

We would certainly survive as an independent nation.

It would be pretty crap compared to the position we enjoy now as being part of the UK, as an independent Scotland would suffer from higher taxes, worse employment prospects, higher unemployment, a worse standard of living, and reduced services.

    But we'd certainly survive.

Some people may think that's a price worth paying for never having another Tory Prime Minister.

I think they're mad as a box of frogs...
Like I said, if we are unable to recognise Scotland as an Independent Country, then in reality, we should not be recognising England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland and totally buy into the united culture by referring to the country as UK only.

    Works for me.

Are you unable to work that out yourself?

It never happens though, does it? There's a grand Duchy but no independent earldoms out there in the UN.

What makes a country better than a union of countries?
Depends. What's better about a union like the UK than say Benelux or the Nordic Union?

Those countries often have high costs of living, high taxes, high rates of alcoholism and suicide, etc. Didn't you once produce a map that showed they outlived Scots though?

Why are they ".better"? More equality. Less violent crime, better health

It's just rich and well-organised, better health at minimal cost,

The poor fellow must have an obsession with imaginary anomie. Luckily he imagined up a thesaurus just before he wore the word hate out by using it for a sixth time in a row.

Perhaps he thinks that repetition of a delusion "entruthifies" it, what ever that means.:)

Yep, it's clear who has a "hatred" and one could argue "racist" in their views.

He's clearly fishing, so maybe not worth engaging any more on this point as you can only hit your head against a brick wall so many times (see sig)

Nothing special at all, just the same as any other nations borders throughout the world.

Tomorrow night see's the World Cup kick off and it will be a fantastic event, televised worldwide.

Even if you are not into football, I implore you to watch the opening event and see how the people of Brazil unite in the love of their country and the love of their team.

Each one of those 32 teams will be followed by people extremely proud of their nation.

It's ok if you don;t get it, but that does not detract from those that do.

So to clarify, what you are showing is a deficit of 7 Billion for Scotland.
I recall the UK deficit was running at over 120 Billion, although understand with the cuts this is not estimated to have reduced to circa 80 Billion.

It seems that the RoUK are running a higher percentile deficit than Scotland according to these figures.

I dont think this is a great analogy for you to pursue considering Scotland's qualifying record of late.

Regardless of whether we qualify for the WC or not, it does not detract how Billions of people are patriotic about their country.

There can only be one winner, but there were over 200 entrants, all with supporters, proud of their team and their country.
