Halifax £100 Incentive problems

I phoned BoS today about my chequebook. They said that their records said that I had requested not to have one. I'm fairly sure I requested one... so either the online form isn't working properly, or it's misleading and I filled it in incorrectly. They have changed my settings and will put one in the post. So if you're waiting for a chequebook - don't hang on for it, however infrequently you write checques, phone them in case the same thing has happened to you.0

Hi all
I Set my account up on 15th March just before they stopped paying the £100 transfer bonus. I still haven't received my £100 despite doing everything they asked including using the Transfer Team.
I am told that because the transfer team failed to set up all of my direct debits (their fault not mine) and because my loacl branch told me to sort it myself as Head Office are incompetent (their words not mine) I won't be getting the £100.
If you ask me this is nothing short of a scam and from what I've seen so far Halifax aren't worth bothering with.
I've lodged a formal complaint, lets see what happens now.
Cheers
Jimmy
Well its good news, Halifax are paying me the £100. After a few phone calls they basically admitted that the transfers had been a shambles and they were at fault. To be honest the fella I spoke to at the complaints dept was a real gent and confirmed that they had cocked numerous accounts up.
Best wishes all

I hope you actually get it - I've been promised it loads of times on the phone - please let us know when it atually comes...0

so it was not only us then. They send bank cards, cheque books to our old address. They have also opened one of our closed accounts (closed in 2004) when we were applying for a new account this year only so that they would not have to pay the £100 promotion they are running0

wow - glad to see that there are other who have similar problems to mine then and i thought of giving up.
1. I applied online on the 14th.of March but they say my application was approved only on the 17th. and that the offer closed on the 16th. The CS person first told me that the day that i filled in the application is the day i opened the account. She changed her story cos she first thought that i opened it online on the 17th. but when she checked with the IT dept. the logs showed it as 14th.
2. After that she told me that we already had an account open with them. We clearly closed this account she was talking about in Oct 2004. They resurrected this account - so that they would have some reason of not having to pay. they are still adament in saying that i have the previous account open but why the hell have they not send me any statements, cards, cheque books since Oct 2004.
3. Knowing that they are going to lose they have now offered me £50 which i have refused to accept. I have met all the conditions i get £100 and if not then i should get £50. The very fact that they trying to meet 1/2 way proves they have no case.0 -
After 5 months and numerous promises, I have not received my #100. I will never deal with the Halifax again!Don't waste your words I don't need,
Anything from you.
I don't care where you've been or,
What you plan to do.0 -
I'm at the DD switching phase - and my DD's so far are being switched fairly promptly and in an orderly fashion. Abbey seems to be cancelling SOs when switched but not DDs, although that shouldn't be a problem as the originator will presumably take it from one account or the other, not both.
My SOs have appeared at The Coventry and, like you, they seem to have disappeared from the Abbey. ALL my DDs still seem to be at the Abbey but only SOME of them re-appeared at The Coventry. I'm asking Coventry what the situation is; whether it's A Work In Progress. I suppose it doesn't matter that yours & my DDs are still showing in the old Abbey a/c - they can be cancelled by us as & when they're up-and-running at the new a/c.Expect the worst & hope for the best...0 -
Wouldn't know where to start!!

My £100 was due at the end of May. Having called several times, each time being told I was eligible and that the £100 would be in my account within the week, I wrote a letter (warning that I'd go to the Financial Ombudsman) to the Halifax complaints address on 23 July.
Response came back saying I would hear within 4 weeks.
This morning I got another letter saying something along the lines of "We're still investigating your complaint, you will hear by 17 September." Sounds like delaying tactics to me.
I know you're meant to exhaust the bank's complaints procedure before going to the Ombudsman but surely 2 months to "investigate" is excessive? Halifax should not be allowed to advertise the switching payment if they're not going to pay up. I'm even a genuine switcher - salary, SO's, DD's transferred and old account being closed!
Should I wait another 4 weeks or just go to the ombudsman / small claims court etc?
Cheers
