Halifax £100 Incentive problems

My branch have just phoned at 17:30 and said they have no idea how I have been signed up for this account with the £100 incentive. He said that the person opening the account should have known that I had another current account, as he had taken £100 from it to open the other one with. He said that unfortunately I no longer qualify for it. I told him that because one of the staff does not know the criteria and were not obviously trained properly, I am missing out on £100. I asked him for the name of the person opening the account and he replied that it must have been him :rotfl: , as the only other fella who it could have been is the manager.
He said that he would talk to the manager tomorrow to see what could be done. I bet he's looking forward to explaining that.:o

I don't staff were informed enough the first time around. take it from a staff member
but he should have know taking the £100 from a joint acc. the conditions were on the back of the leaflet at the time0 -
Well - it seems like there are a lot of you out there with the same problem as me - I'm glad I made the original post.
I too have been dealing with the Customer Relations department and have had the same delaying letters promising responses that never arrive.
I was interested in matty_art's comment that they are using the fact that he had a savings account with them as a reason for ineligibility. The T's and C's clearly state that you can't have another current account - I quote
"The offer is open to new current account customers only and not available to existing Halifax of Bank of Scotland current account holders."
A savings account is clearly NOT a current account!
This bank is shocking - I will wait until their next promised response date expires and then go to the Ombudsman - I suggest we all do the same.
Don't give up - they are clearly guilty of misselling and poor service.0 -
Forgot to say - well done Forever Red - liked the poll - pity a few more people havn't voted - not sure its a big enough sample to take much from it but it seems that there's a few of us battling to get this money!0

Well my DD's are now set up and after paying in £1000 a month for the past 3 months my wages should start to go in from the end of September.
I would hope that my £100 should come in October but I think Christmas may come first!!It's far better to be penny wise than pound foolish.

My DD and SO have changed over smoothly and I have received a letter listing everything set up and list of pay-ins which clearly shows two lots of £1000 entries. If it all goes pear shaped, this letter will be good evidence for satisfying the T&Cs.
As soon as correct time has passed, I will add to the poll.0 -
Hi all!
Just a quick post to say its not only transferring customers that are having problems! I am an existing HBOS customer and requested to be changed to the BOS High interest account. I signed the form etc (twice!!) and also (tried to) set up a savings account too. For the current account all they had to do was amend the account... no new cards/chq books etc needed to be issued and it would be the same account no.
... 4 months on I've finally got the IASA opened after a struggle and lots of mis-information being told to me and as for the H I account   ... I have 1 more week to wait for their reply to my complaint before it will be sent to the ombudsman. It would have been sooner but I had been reassured multiple times my account had been switched and it hadn't  so delayed complaining.
Its very sad as I've been a customer of BOS since I was a child and even temporarily worked for them. This is shocking behaviour for a bank I (formerly) trust(ed). How do they get away with it??????????   :mad:Mortgage free as of 12/08/20!

I opened an account with BoS mid May, everything got transferred to the account by August from Cahoot, and I paid in £1000 in June and July, and got my £100 near the end of August.
The transfer service was a bit slow, but otherwise, it was pretty hassle free. The £100 just appeared in my account one day and I was actually wondering where that came from.0 -
does anyone know if they pay the higher level of interest from when you first open the account because obviously there can be quite a delay in them transferring over your salary payment etc.??
my account opened end of june but my salary still isn't going into it as of the end of august so therefore it hasn't been funded with the £1000 a month required (for 2 consecutive months).
seems abit unfair if it drops to 0.1% when it's because they are so slow at geting my salary to be paid in there!!0 -

There could be any number of reasons why your salary hasn't yet been transferred over...
The DD's & SO's may have taken longer to transfer than expected due to originator/recipient delays.
Your employer may not have actioned the Halifax request.
Letters could have been lost in the post.
Or Halifax have simply messed up!
However, the T&C's are quite specific in that they won't pay the higher rate if you don't fund the account for two successive months. Furthermore, you may have to wait another three months for the higher rate if they don't admit a failure in their transfer process has caused the delay, meaning it could be the end of the year before you see the 6.17% AER rate being paid.0
