I am sure it also goes to their marketing team fo rstatistics - so they can say '1 million people have already switched to Halifax due to our great rates - why don't you?' ...

My wife has received her switching authority form yesterday but to our surprised it asked her to switch our current account from A/L which we don't want as she requested for a transfer from nationwide for we have 2 SO.

I think they are trying to confuse us since that's not she requested on her online application. Also I am still hoping my switching form would arrive and will see which account they want to transfer as I requested my Lloyds current to be transferred.

I think I'm losing patience on this transfer saga and if it won't be completed by the end of this month we would rather close and cancel our accounts.

Ypu had to out in the sort code and account number of the account that you wanted to transfer - how would they know the A&L's details if she put the Nationwide one? For yours I presume you gave the account details of Lloyds tsb

The forms are supposed to be sent as soon as, but have you funded the account yet with £100 to get your card ect. In branch the forms can not be produced until this has happened. Could always give a bell.

How can we find out if things are going according to plan? Or is it a case of waiting 6 weeks or so and if no switch then we know something's gone wrong and start the whole process again?
All I've had to do so far is sign a form agreeing for H to contact all parties concerned ( ie bank and DD and SO)

Well, for my part, Halifax has been quite good & efficient so far [famous last words...] at keeping me informed by letter re progress of "Switching" so far. Perhaps it's because I've had an efficient young lady from the local branch 'on the case' originally. Well, the way things are going, it's going to help Halifax become my 'chequebook' a/c, even if not my 'main' a/c - I've only switched specially-set-up S/Os from my phantom Barclays a/c. I'm 99% sure that I'm finally going to dump the Abbey, now that they've !!!!!! me off, and have my existing Coventry 1st a/c as my main a/c instead.
Expect the worst & hope for the best...

My first DD is now showing up at Halifax, smooth so far. Although, I signed up for Halifax Sharesave ages ago and although as of a week ago it started to show on my account home page, when I click on it it says I am not signed up to the service! I called Halifax last Thurs who said they would look at it and after a few mins said 'it should be ok next time you log in'. Checked today and no luck. Plus, annoyingly, no way of e-mailing Halifax re web problems. For that part First Direct were better as they had an internal e-mail system.

Nationwide is also excellent for secure messaging re accounts or web problems.
How long did it take for your first DD to show?
  • Hi all
I Set my account up on 15th March just before they stopped paying the £100 transfer bonus. I still haven't received my £100 despite doing everything they asked including using the Transfer Team.
I am told that because the transfer team failed to set up all of my direct debits (their fault not mine) and because my loacl branch told me to sort it myself as Head Office are incompetent (their words not mine) I won't be getting the £100.
If you ask me this is nothing short of a scam and from what I've seen so far Halifax aren't worth bothering with.
I've lodged a formal complaint, lets see what happens now.
    Cheers
    Jimmy
