I've started doing C25K so I'm hoping it will help my weight loss too.

Stick some bodyweight work or weights in there, or all that will happen is you'll get hungrier

    Oh

    My

    God!!!!

I had SUCH an awesome session at the gym after work today. The weight machines really tested some of my muscles, I actually felt muscles that I didn't know I had! It was great though!

So I did 2 sets of 10 reps on each machine. The weight is only on 15kg for the arm ones and 30kg for the leg ones, so starting off slowly, but will be building it up.

So I did the weights first, then went onto cardio.
Cardio wise, I did a 10 min warm up on the bike, 15mins on the treadmill, at an incline of 3 and speed of 4.8. Then I rowed 1600m which took about 9mins, then did 10 mins on the cross trainer.
then I repeated the weights again :)

    I really enjoyed it!

I was just saying to my friend that exercise is making me so hungry! I didn't realise that it was just the cardio that has that effect.

I'm quite lucky that my friend is a fitness instructor and her hubby is a personal trainer so I have access to health knowledge quite easily. She has also kindly written a workout I can do at home and I work this around my runs.

I find this too. But I don't want to eat a large meal after a workout.

Did a bodyweight style class on Monday, still feeling it in my lower abdomen today  I was starving when I got home though, probably ate a bit more than usual for dinner.

Well done at the gym WantToBeSE :T I need to organise my free PT session so I can start doing a proper exercise program. ATM I just use the treadmill (C25K runs) and have tried a class.
Whilst I'm here - been advised to get more potassium in my diet. Apart from bananas, anyone got nay suggestions please? My problem is that I'm wheat intolerant, can't tolerate certain textures and have been advised to cut my fruit and veg intake to 2-3 portions per day.

Did a quick search and found this:
    http://www.healthaliciousness.com/articles/food-sources-of-potassium.php

However, most of the foods seem to be fruit and veg! I'm curious as to why you need to cut down on them? The last bit of news I read about portions was that we needed up to 10 a day

Oh that's really handy! Are you doing the C25k? I cant run to save my life.

I want to eat a small meal after a workout, not a huge one. Like I came home from my gym session and it was lunch time, so I had a falafel salad wholemeal wrap and a few baby plum tomatoes. It was just the right amount of food.

What kind of class did you do? I am going to try fitness pilates on Monday morning. Its aimed at the abs, which is exactly what I need. I hope its not a disaster like my aerobiking (I couldn't finish the class!). We'll see :)

Bunnie I cant remember if you said before, but do you belong to a gym? I presume you do because you said about the treadmill.

I'm not sure it's an eight week programme to get me up to running for 30mins continuously from nothing so it could quite possibly be a variation yes.
I injured my ankle a few years ago and it's still quite weak so am trying exercises that I can stick to for life to keep the joint strong.
To be honest my first run wasn't that enjoyable I was huffing and puffing but it didn't kill me I'm going to stick to it and give it a proper go. I didn't like brussell sprouts when I first tried them now I love them so time will tell.

It's what me and a fair few of my pals have found, and I've seen a few people report it on here too.

Also running doesn't burn as many calories as you'd think, sadly

Amount of sugar in them maybe? Just hypothesising :)
