Awesome workout at the gym this afternoon! An extra 5 mins on the treadmill and an extra 100m on the rowing machine.
Tarka Dahl for dinner0 -
I forgot to add the most important bit of todays post:
I noticed the other day that I am developing biceps (yay!!) and although I am not losing much weight, I felt as though I am shrinking, but thought It may have been in my imagination.
Well, within the last 3 days, 3 separate people ( 2 of which don't know I have been going to the gym and eating healthily) have asked if I've lost weight!! So it must be becoming obvious to other people, not just me0 -
Totally killed it at the gym this morning
15 mins on the bike (level 4)
2000m rowing machine- level 5 (an increase of 400m) about 10mins.
31 mins on the treadmill, incline of 5.5, speed of 5.9
Weights:
2x12:
Tricep 25KG
Pulldown 30KG
Fly 25KG
Row 25KG
Chest press 25KG
Leg press- 35KG
Thigh abductor- 30KG
Thigh adduction- 35KG
I FEEL EPIC!!0 -
Hi everyone
Sorry I dropped off the map a bit over the last couple of weeks. I've been really busy starting my new job!
Over the last month, I reckon I've put on a few more pounds rather than lost any!I haven't been to the gym since it closed for refurbishment, and I'm in no way ready for my 5k run next weekend...
Money is going to be pretty tight this month, I think I just about have enough to cover my bills! So no eating out/expensive food for me. My OH has been away with his friends this week, so mainly been surviving on spaghetti on toast - seemed a bit pointless to cook for one.
From Monday I'm starting the healthy eating diet! Last weekend I went shopping with my mum for work clothes (hence no money now *sigh*) and I was DISGUSTED by how I looked in most of the things I tried onI usually take a size 12 in trousers/bottoms and a size 10 or 12 in tops/dresses depending on the fit. I couldn't find anything I liked and was getting fed up and running out of options, then my mum suggested going to M & S. We went in and they had a huge selection of workwear and I picked up 3 or 4 pairs of black trousers (size 12). To my horror none of them would fit! One pair had about a 3 inch gap between the button and the buttonhole!
I ended up buying a pair of trousers in H & M in SIZE SMALL! How does that work?! Needless to say I won't be buying any clothes in Marks anymore!
I went out for drinks with friends from work last night and have been hanging all day, blergh! I probably drank nearly a bottle of rose, 2 double vodkas, a half pint of cider, 2 shots, a jagerbomb and an alcopop! I feel sick just thinking about it...I don't usually drink, only if I go out (maybe once a month or less).
Time to sort myself out!0 -
Hi Bunnie,
sorry to hear you are feeling down. How is the new job going?
Is there anything I can do to help you with motivation workout and eat sensibly?
I myself need to eat a bit healthier. Well, actually I don't necessarily need to eat healthier meals-they are healthy enough- but I need to make my snacks healthier and lay off the booze.
I am going to have a tight month this month too, so no treats for me either. I think it'll do us good to rein it in a bit, the kids could do with eating less sweets..oops!
Have been to the gym this morning. I did the same workout as yesterday, but 7 mins less on the treadmill as my calves couldn't hack it this morning.0 -

I keep telling everyone my new job is going really well...but I'm not sure if I've done the right thing at all!I've only been there a week, so I can't exactly make a judgement just yet. I'll have to wait and see how things go.
It's been so hard to stick to any kind of diet this week. I think it's partly because I knew I was going out on Friday night and would ruin a good week with alcohol, and partly because my OH is away and it's easy to cook/eat convenience foods! Also, I haven't been to they gym as I've been so tired from work. I didn't realise how much my new hours would affect me (working 9-5 now, used to work early and late shifts).
When I got home from work the day my OH went away, he had left 3 big bars of chocolate/a bag of sweets in the fridge for me  Really sweet of him, but really bad for me. I've only eaten the bag of sweets and a few squares of chocolate though. I feel like I haven't really seen him all week, so I'm cooking his favourite treat, bread pudding (in fairness I did have almost a whole loaf of bread about to go off) for when he gets home tonight.
I'm just all over the place atm. Had a bit of a weepy moment before I went to bed last night! I'm actually dreading going into work tomorrow0 -

The first few weeks in a new job is always tough, I feel for you. I hate it when everything is new and you don't know where things are, or who to talk to when you need certain things etc. I hope it improves for you.
Are you a morning person, or an evening person? I think that will have a big impact on getting to the gym. As I found out this week, I am DEFINITELY a morning person, and if I don't get my workouts done before 4pm, I wont manage it.
So you could go to the gym before work, so its over and done with?
Or if you're an evening person, you could go straight to the gym from work, so not going home first. Then you know that once you get home, the work is done.
re food- I am struggling a little with this too. Are your meals generally healthy but its snacks and alcohol that are the issue (like me)? Maybe tell your OH that you want to eat healthier, so instead of choccie could he please being you fresh fruit as a treat?
Also, with feeling weepy, is it your TOTM? I always crave junk when its my TOTM.
And remember 1 bag of sweets, or 1 or 2 drinks, doesn't mean you've failed. There is no failure! You just get back onto the wagon as soon as you realise what you've just eaten, and continue healthy eating.
I hope this isn't sounding preachy, I am just wracking my brains trying to think of what I can say to help you.x.0 -

Thank you WantToBeSE!You're not sounding preachy at all! I need a kick up the bum to get me started!
I agree with you on the diet. I don't really eat "badly" or "unhealthily" just end up eating all the sugary snacks and drinks! Like I said, I only drink on occasions - which isn't too bad - it's mainly chocolate/cakes/diet coke etc (especially as I love baking!) For example, this Saturday I've eaten toast for breakfast, had a subway for lunch and spaghetti on toast for dinner. Not brilliant, but not too bad either! Calorie-wise probably under the daily recommended amount, but then I snacked on sweets/chocolate too!
Tonight I was planning to make my OH a nice meal when he gets home (chicken Kiev, mash, veg and I've made bread pudding for dessert) but it looks like he won't get back until later in the evening, so I'll probably end up eating more convenience food!
As for work, I'm hoping it will get better. I knew there would be an adjustment period :rotfl:0 -

OK, so you know in advance that your OH wont be home until late, so you have time to plan what you will eat, so that you don't resort to convenience foods. Healthy doesn't have to mean complicated. You could do beans/spaghetti on toast, with poached or scrambled eggs, a rasher of lean bacon (grilled) with grilled tomatoes and mushrooms.
Doesn't take too long, feels like a decent meal, and is healthy because you are grilling not frying.
Or pasta with veggies in a tomato sauce, or just roasted veg and baked chicken breast with herbs etc. There is plenty of time to arrange something0 -

Choices. Its all about choices. Theres a fair amount of self sabotage going on in your eating habits even if you dont realise it.
You dont need to eat crap food just because its there. You dont need to buy it.
And you dont need to drink alcohol when you go out either. That might sound like your life is going to be dull and boring, but whats great about sinking a bucketful of alcohol and feeling dog rough the next day?
If you do a 30 min workout a day, thats a tiny percentage of the day. You can exercise at home if you cant be bothered to get to the gym.
And its just as easy to prepare healthy food than it is to make convenience.
The only person who can do this is you.
Diet coke is full of rubbish and really unhealthy. Its ok to have cake and chocolate but if you want to lose weight it should be occasional.
And I speak as someone who knows how hard it is. I used to have a massive diet coke habit, I ate crisps until they were coming out of my ears and I was 3 stones heavier a year ago.
You have to want to lose the weight and get healthy, really want it.
Otherwise you are going to be facing an uphill battle.0
