Well done Fmess on the 30%.

DS has a cubs thing today which involves me, DH and DD having to pay in and spend when we are there, it is a fundraising thing and these groups are excellent for our youngsters so I don't begrudge it.

Thank you apple muncher and dolly :)

Just realised when work pay me my expenses claim, I'll be 31% debt paid :)

Today was a spend day as I needed a visit to the beautician and bought fruit, veg and some healthy protein.

Also did an exercise class, walked the dogs and I've done over 16000 steps :)

I can tell it's nearly time for the new challenge as there are less posts on here per day. Is it on it's way NSK? I don't know what I'll do when you're travelling!

Hello :hello:!! Long time no see, sorry. I missed the last few month's challenges due to just not having the time or energy. But baba is three months old now and things are calming down now. Can't wait to join in again next month. NEED TO. Maternity pay is going down now, shopping habits and meal planning are out of control and the wedding is only three months away. Got lucky and got some money towards it from the parents and saving some pennies by making our own invitations, favours etc. But still need to save more. So I decided I need to come back. Plus I missed you guys. Hope your all doing well. Will try to read through some f the previous posts etc to see what you've been up too and will keep an eye out for the July challenge.

    Xxx

Also just saw there was a fitness challenge included this month. Hopefully there will be again next month. I bought my wedding dress 9 months pregnant and need to fit into it in September :)

Wrote a list last night of things I really want to get done. So today I have glossed the bathroom cupboard (floor to ceiling, nearly 3 foot wide and a foot deep and its all paneled), u/c and glossed the old attic trapdoor (also in the bathroom) and u/c the windowsill in the small front bedroom (was going to gloss it just before I got in the bath but forgot).

Have acquired some white streaks in my hair but as part of the job was done with my face squashed against the side of the sink and part constantly reminding myself not to smash my head in on the underside of the sink, I am quietly pleased.

Warmed up with the rubbish run - quantities of rubbish/ recycling and paper have left the house and broke up the periods up the steps (and the ladder) by making rags from a (damaged so no use to charity shop) duvet cover, listening to sets from yesterdays Glastonbury while notching up adpoints and doing a little tidying and weeding.

Finished by making curry and spag bol - should be about 6 portions each but DS3 and the little stair mender arrived back as the curry was cooking and I made the mistake of telling them they could have a (little, sample) bowl each. DS3 didn't want to make pasta and asked had we any bread - I think they have had half a loaf between them and DS3's 'sample' was in the 2 litre pyr*x pudding bowl, so there might not be any curry left by morning.

Have spent money - went to buy a replacement chocolate cake (had told DS3 it was to be shared and have used it to get me through the day so bought a new one and hid the part eaten one) and bacon (DS3 does not understand that other people do not have one huge meal a day - have got into the habit of feeding the stair mender toast and bacon butties but there was no bacon left in the freezer). Have added £20 to food spent - some of this has been spent on 'ingredients' to go with existing stores to make meals for July (did have some complicated calculations somewhere but too busy to find them so have added £20 to make it seem fair). Another £1 bus fare home (also added).

Leg is aching and I am tired but can live with both as long as I am making progress - both personally and with the house. Frustrated that I still cannot do things at ground level - there is an empty toilet roll middle that fell out of the cupboard and rolled under the sink. I can't crouch or lean near enough to reach it. Have tried to bat it out with an empty plastic bottle and use a bread knife to hook it but it's still there.(Must send an e-mail to utility company as they are still asking for meter readings when I was told last week that someone would phone to arrange for someone to come out and do it).

Keep hopping June Bugs (I'll soon be hopping too).

Hello Thrifty, hope you and your family are well.

Stewby seems to have been gone ages, is she still on hols I wonder?

We spent £5.10 at the cubs event yesterday, DS's group had a stall and DD had a few goes on that, it was £2.50 to get in, a cornetto for 50p and a magnum for £1, they don't overcharge on this type of thing and the kids loved it.

I am hoping for a SFD today.

Sold something on ebay for £50 yesterday, it was cash so the £5 fees:( need to come out of the paypal/bank account, DH is wanting to put the money towards a bike carrier. I have lots of other bits and bobs worth selling but the postage fees make it not worthwhile as people don't bid much for the actual item so you hardly make anything. I think I will put together a bundle of my size 18 clothes which no longer fit (size 14 and going rapidly downwards) they are nice brands, high street rather than designer but I would be happy to buy a good quality bundle of things for myself. I have a few pairs of nice jeans, tops, pj's, jumpers etc.

It's supposed to be dry and sunnyish here but it is wet for the third day running, I have the washing on so need the sun to come out so I can peg it out. I hope the sun comes back for next weekend as we are having the Grand Depart in Leeds, the whole place is buzzing, Leeds is going to be seriously crazy all of next week.

Hi all, been missing a while as haven't had the energy after work :o

Applemuncher, please, please take care of yourself :) For all those that feel you can't take time off, please remember you are and always will be replaceable to your employer, but not to yourself and those that love and care for you. I, for years was always fighting to get through the door, no matter what, which with hindsight I quite honestly regret!

FMESS-Way to go well done! :T

Magicat-There is NEVER a good time to have a child as children are a constant drain on your finances :D If you feel emotionally ready, then just remember, there is no manual for one of the hardest jobs on the planet and there is not set right or wrong way to do anything! What you have they will have and whatever the situation, you make the best of it :) I have 4 children and am a single mother. Look at my signature, but all 4 of them are fed and content enough to give me immense joy and be a pain up the backside. So long as you have enough love to give them, that's the most important thing-as for many of us, we will never have as much money as we would like, but enough to get by. Good luck.

Thrifty-3 months already :D Glad you and your family are well :)

I had an unexpected windfall-I totally forgot about 50.00 I was expecting from quidco and got that available yesterday :T

I've decided to book something cheap and cheerful for a night away as I'm burning out :( A night at Chessington is likely. The tickets for me are free (thanks little brother :) and a room is coming in just under my windfall. I'll take my little one with me. Yes, it's an expense, but it's budgeted for and I spend nothing else, so technically it's my entertainment budget as I never spend this.

My only spend so far is the food shopping. I shop monthly and that came in at £277.00. The guy that delivered was quite a cheery fellow too. I've had some right miseries of late, lol. Got paid on Friday so time to pay towards my debt and watch £550 come off my total :T I've been sticking to my regime of at least 50 sit ups and push ups a day and starting to see a difference too :T This has really lifted my mood :D

Take care everyone and good luck :)

Well to get into the swing of things again I started a major wardrobe declutter, went for my first run tonight in about three years, looked out some Jillian Michaels videos someone mentioned earlier on YouTube for next week and tonight I'll start a meal plan and shopping list for next week if not month. Can't wait to join in again.

Welcome back thrifty, those 3 months have flown by!

Congratulations on the windfall traveller, great idea to use it for a break away :)

Today is SFD number 15 and I'm planning on tomorrow being number 16 :) Nothing much else to report except to note that I've not managed any of my other targets, except petrol! July is going to be very different! Although at the moment it looks like there may be another 4 legged friend joining the household but at least we already have everything we need to accommodate him, except puppy food.

Looking forward to the new challenge :) Hope all you shifts are going ok NSK?

    Okay, today's list

Cleaned kitchen work surfaces (twice), wiped front, top and inside of washer, one washer load (including all the used cleaning rags) done dried and mostly brought in (DS3 and little stair mender had both fallen asleep so left his things outside, rather than disturb them).

Painted ceiling, architrave and walls down to picture rail in tiny bedroom + bits of u/c and gloss (line where old roller blind fitment was etc.).

Swept and henried under the attic stairs (will be difficult when stairs are in place) and then emptied poor Henry.

Outside have used 1/2 can leftover fence paint on a bit (about 18") next to the shed (had to move a large pot and a bin) that never got done and touched up 2 panels that have had most damage (one fell down about 3 times during winter, the other seems to get most sun). Empty can left outside so VOCs can evaporate safely. Also painted two bins with inside paint (will last for this year - nearly the same colour as the shed and I want one to 'disappear', both look better in turquoise than black). Spent some time scraping old masonry paint.

Most of the seedling are now out in the garden or moved into bigger containers and about 20 mushroom boxes have been rinsed and relocated to the recycling bin - still need to sweep window sills and clean windows but it is looking much clearer. When things have calmed down I will start collecting mushroom boxes for next years seeds. Persuaded DS3 to root out the toilet roll middle.

Have spent money. Couldn't find the hacksaw and sent the boys to buy one. As they would only be 5 minutes from Arseda I told them to get dandelion and burdock (DS3 already has cordial) and anything else they might need this week but not to spend £40 (I sent them shopping when I was still stuck on the bed). Have found 3 receipts (2 cash - I gave them my card). They don't seem to have bought or spent much and they haven't asked me for any cash. I don't have much but I don't begrudge the lad a bottle of pop and some biscuits (or whatever) - DS3 has mostly paid for him on his previous visits. Just hope the bread in the freezer doesn't have any blue bits on it. DS3 kept interrupting when I was trying to think what they might need - to go with what I have in. Then he said I didn't need to write down what stairmender wanted as he was going to the shop. Ah well - will soon realise what they should have bought.
